In the interest of keeping a near stockish/less full-blown custom job on the saleen, thought i'd get a current recommendation or 2. I've been out of the market for a while.
1) Will probobly want to ditch the 2xDIN stocker 6disc indash head unit for a nice mp3 deck.
2) molded sub/amp combo (possibly JL, MTX, bazooka, other options), as much out of the way as possible. I want trunk/spare access.
3) retain mach speakers/amps, only would like to upgrade front tweeters. Aynone know their impedence? Can this be done easily w/ a tweeter swap on these systems?
Thanks!
Deck install is not too bad but you should choose a deck with built in crossovers on the speakerwire outputs (Kenwood) and the deck needs to have a dedicated full range subwoofer output (Kenwood). The factory "tweets" are really mids and you will have a large frequency range gap by replacing them with real tweeters. Impedance is 4 ohm. JL does not make a sub with a built in amp but they do make a Stealthbox that mounts on the passenger side of the trunk. Kenwood has a ported 10" enclosure with a Class D amp attached and a dash mounted remote. It is small but does not mold into the side of the trunk $235.
2006 Alpine in dash CD players do not have crossovers.

Good info, didn't know the speakers in the pods had midrange duty as well. Thanks Eric!

If I remember correctly, the Mach pods are the same size as the dash speakers in a fox. 3.5" I think.

Nope. 2 5/8" is the driver diameter.

the "tweeters" in the mach 460 like EW said are mids and they are not amp powered.
either replace the speaker set with component speakers or dont mess with it. you can just add a small sub and amp.

Right on, I suppose I could do a mixed mono/stereo setup on a 4ch amp, power a sub and a set of components up front. I'll probobly just wind up adding a sub and leaving it alone.

yea, you dont need rear speakers in a mustang so that will save you money on buying speakers, amp, and wiring for the rear. a set of front speakers + amp + sub would be bad at all pricewise and you will be able to hear your music on the hwy with the windows down! see EW at autosound, he will set you up.
