Shampooing carpet

What products do you guys use to clean your automobile carpet? I've taken both of my parents vehicles to a local car wash that has a carpet shampooer and I've been pretty happy with the results. I'd like to take the time out and pull the front seats and work on some problem areas but that would be kinda hard to do at the car wash. Anything you guys can recommend that I can use at home with my shop vac? I've thought about buying a small hand steamer but I'd like to hear some recommendations first.

The hand steamer will work fine. There are plenty of auto carpet cleaners...i usually buy the ones with brissles on the end to get the pesky spots and what not. I think any will suit your needs fine.

I would recommend the Kirby Brand Carpet cleaner it works wonders with just a little of it mixed with water. You can get it at any vaccum cleaner store.

just remember...what you put in as steam, will remain in as water residue. If you want to pull the carpets, i'd see if there is a chem dry cleaner in the area that would do it for a nominal fee. They use co2, not water & works great, without the residue to gather dirt.
Or get a couple cans of tuff stuff & a brush.

We have a steam cleaner that KJ used on his car before. I think it did well.
I know it does wonders inside the casa. ;)

depending on where you live, you can come up to one of my father, me, and my brother's car washes. i can guarantee that it will take out 99% of your stains...

Try the steam cleaning. We always use resolve for steam cleaners. Or just water and oxy clean.. But the resolve smells good and gets everything out.

In my truck I just pulled the carpet out and presure washed it.. That got all of the dirt and stains out.. Then I put it in one of those big industrial dryers at the laundery matt..

Thanks for the info guys. Just going to try some shampo (Resolve) and cleaning with a brush and shop vac for now. I've had a couple of buddy's pull the carpet and pressure wash it and I was amazed with the results but that's to much work for me right now.
