Having trouble w/bike not going in gear

A friend is selling me a 1998 suzuki 750 but the only problem is that is doesn't go..I seen him riding it about 5 days ago and he said it was acting up but know you put it in gear and nothing... I know most people would have to see it to tell me but was wondering if it might be the clutch or another known problem & about how much would it run to fix ?

Clutch components would be the first things to check. Check the cable itself, adjustment at both places. Then check the shifter lever, to make sure the output shaft is not stripped. Could be a number of things. I wouldnt purchase till you figure out what is wrong though.

It only make that poping noise kinda like it wants to go in gear
But nothing
