My roommate had been wanting to buy his first bike for a while, so we stopped at a dealership last week in Meridian, and he bought a new Lifan 250cc cruiser. I'd never heard of them, but it seemed like a decent entry-level cruiser, and he got out the door for ~$2,700. Anybody know anything about these? It looks exactly like a virago.

Looks like the enduro has a flat. They could have cropped it better, ha!

Theres some company in Mexico building cruisers like that also. They are very inexpensive so they might make decent first time bikes for inexperienced riders.

Why spend $2700 on that when you can get a Honda Rebel 250 for a few hundred bucks more? ESPECIALLY for a first time motorcycle owner, having a bike that you can get parts for at any dealer, ebay, etc goes a LONG way. I wouldn't reccomend a cheap Chinese knock-off unless it's half the price of a good 250 cruiser from one of the "big four". Just my opinion, so take it for what it's worth.

I would tend to agree.

But if you had to get a Lifan, why buy one for $2700 when you can get it landed for $2200? (http://www.rnrfabrication.com/lifan250cccruiser.htm)

Bet that 2200 isn't out the door price. 2700 was including tax, title, license, probably a frieght charge, bike prep... it adds up.

he's got the v-twin, and that was the price for everything out the door. it was 2,400 +tt&l list. he said he got it to 80 on the way to brownwood yesterday.

My 78' Honda CM185 twin would do 85. I KNOW a Honda Rebel will do almost 100. I tend to agree with paying a little bit more for something that A...will have at least SOME resale value and B....will last for a little while.
I couldnt even imagine if one of those knock-offs breaks down...where you gonna get parts?

Lifan makes good quality engines, but I don't have any experience with their chassis setups.
