1999 R6?????

A guy i know needs cash, he's offering me his 1999 R6 that supposable has no problems i can test drive it for $1200.00. He says he bought it from his brother for $500 because it was rinning like crap. He claims the airfilter was cloged and somehow flooded the oil case with fuel. I'm guessing it leaked through the rings.

He claims he then found out what the problem was replaced the filter and changed the oil, Was driving it around for a few weeks and go pulled over. The bike is now impounded, He has no money to get it out. If i pay him $1000 bucks and the $200+ impound fee i can have the bike and title.

My question is how can i get the bike out but if it's junk not get screwed? Hold the title or whole bike maybe?


He also has a 85gt Partally stripped because he was making it a race car.
And a wrecked 89 hatch LX V8 5 speed, He only wants a few hundred for each of them.

Give me some how to play it safe advice.

Tell him that you will pay the impound fee to have it inspected, if all is square as he says, you will pay the rest. If all is not, he will have to repay you the impound fee.

If he can't pay the $200 impound fee himself, I don't think he'd be willing to pay it if (and when!) you find out it's teh crapzorz.

I'm not a bike person but even if the engine is shot .. isn't this bike worth alot more than the asking price?

how well do you trust him?? if it is clean and it starts it is probably worth 1200 even if it is wrecked

If the title is clean and clear it's worth it just to part out on eBay if you have the ability. The clean title frame alone will bring about $1200-$1500.

Get the title in your hands, make the deal contingent on your inspection of the bike, go get it from the impound yard and check it out... if it's OK, have the cat follow you to the tax office, transfer the title, and pay the dude the rest of the money.

If the bike is F'ed up, just hold the bike/title until he can pay you the impound fee.

Do NOT give him money with out the title, you'll never see the bike, the money, the title or him again.

Now , get your ass over there and get us an R6 to ride! Yeeee Haw!!!

Yeah i'm just waiting for the title to come back in my name, and for another payday too roll around, I didn't have the money for registration and insurance yet, so no riding yet, I've taken it around the block a few times.

right now i'm gonna enjoy it. This will be my second bike, and with gas prices the way they are a bike is needed. Hell it will pay for itself in less than six months.
