Anyone know where to find the paint codes for the engine bay of a stang? Most all stangs do not have the same paint color under the hood as on the body itself. Looking to do a correct resto on a car and need to find the correct color. Car is calypso green, but I havent found any paint shop that has the corect under hood paint code, just the outside body color codes

It just is. Look at any engine bay and youll niotice the paint is differant. Ford didnt clear coat the engine bays, and in the case of say a calypso green or titanium frost car, you will notice that the paint is not a metallic nor cleared, and is also a slightly differant color. The wild strawberry cars are the same also. non metallic with no clear ;) Im just looking to be as original as possible.

Its just not cleared, you can get a single stage paint to do the engine bay, its the same paint code as your ouside color just single stage.

I believe the engine bay is painted the same time as the car, as is the K-member (when going down the assembly line)...we had a run of cars a few years ago when the 5 liters were new and a corresponding service bullitin to "color match" K-members due to an out of sequence line - I got to rattle can a red K-member on a black car  ...

You may be seeing the engine bay as a different color because it isn't exposed to direct sunlight, elements, smog, and repeated car washes...
