What a PITA to change shields. The side pods are what make it such a bitch, you have to take them on and off every time to swap shields. I wish it was as easy as my Arai or even as easy as my HJC (which is a pain but less so than my Suomy). So, it's a PITA to swap shields because of the side pods. Went out for a ride Wednesday afternoon and had lunch at Irving Mall after doing some shopping and got ready to take off and noticed I was missing my right side pod  Now I've gotta pick up another set :(

how much was the mirrorized sheild? I sprung for one and paid 80 bucks @ cycle gear for the mirrorized one on my arai. :(
but, it looks cool as fuck :D

The only other issue I'm having is it doesn't appear the shield is sealing completely although I'm not noticing any difference in wind or noise. Probably just an issue with me having to play around with it a little more to get it perfect. I picked up this smoke shield on eBay for $30 and a chrome iridium shield for $55. And yes they are both original Suomy shields and were sealed in there packaging.
Now I've gotta find a place were I can order the side pods.

? I have never paid more than 30 or 40 bucks for a mirror shield. Thats at the dealer. Last one I bought was at motion for my girls Arai. 36.32 was the exact amount I paid last summer. Still have the reciept.

moto liberty can get the side covers. I just ordered 2 for $50 (the going rate) and a clear shield cause mine came with the idirium one and it was to dark for the night rides.

What? Arai shields? They are not as expensive as Suomy shields I can tell you that. Especially the Iridium shields

Thanks for the heads up. Someone else mentioned on another board that Moto Liberty could order Suomy stuff they just didn't stock it. I'll have to bite the bullet and order a pair and be carefull next time swapping out shields.

No? Suomy iridium sheilds go for ~55 bucks a pop all day long on ebay. The same for Arai's are ~15 bucks more on avg.

Cyclegear has ARAI sheilds for 79.99 in the mirrored. I was citing ebay bc it's notoriously cheaper/on target with good prices.

I haven't seen to many Suomy shields on there... Maybe I just haven't been looking. I haven't had to buy an Arai shield yet either since I've got that all covered already.

I lost a pod on mine too back in the day Jose, but since I got a replacement set I've been fine. I like the Shoei system better.

before you do anything about getting the new sides, just call suomy and explain that one came off while riding and they will give you another one...they are very reasonable people you just have to keep on their ass to get anything done...those sheilds are pimp though i have the blue iridium one on my helmet, i got it for free for defects in my helmet so im happy..after a while of changing the sheild you will start to notice that the little tabs on the side pods will start to break...only thing that really puts me off, i have it down pretty good when changing sheilds, takes me no more then 20 seconds.

Sad that I know what it is...

I'm not sure how the Shoei system works but I know with the Arai system I can swap shields in under a minute. If the Suomy was that easi it would be hands down my favorite helmet.

I can see where the shield may be an issue in the future. I'll give them a call later.

you can swap a Shoei shield in about 20 seconds......... if you have never done it before!. IMO the best shield setup out there

Ya what he said. I've got my suomy setup w/ the iridium and my shoei w/ clear, just so I can snag a helmet fast for whatever I want. But ya, the shoei design is lickity split fast.

Probably shouldn't matter since Shoei's don't fit my head very well but does anybody know how they compare to Arai's shield changing system?

I like the Shoei method also.
It is really the only helmet that fits my mellon well, so I dont have much experience with other brands.
