Bob, you are incorrect! I've seen many riders go down about 80mph in a textile jacket, and they held up. The mesh ones barely held up, but they did also. As long as you don't slide for 2 football fields, you'll be ok.

wow they got lucky..my buddy went down with his textile and it literally became part of him..it melted strands of the material into his skin......was a bitch to get out at the hospital

I bought a joe rocket one, and it had good crash ratings. Maybe the older ones suck, but i think the newer ones may be made much better.

I had a textile. I never got to test it but it felt like it would hold up great!

oh and watch my buddy go down at around 70mph with his leather alpinestar jacket and it held up real good. The jacket still looks ok to wear

Are thier any places local that sell fieldsheer? Everyone I've talked to said they run on the small side.

Moto Liberty (http://www.motoliberty.com/) sells Fieldsheer, might check them out. I've had really good luck with Fieldsheer gear, very good bang for the buck. Maybe not as stylish as some of the other gear manufacturers but you can only do so much with solid black :D

Check out Brockton Cycles (http://www.brocktoncycle.com/) for some good deals on Fieldsheer Gear. They've had the cheapest prices on the net I've seen. They have the Perforated Leather Air Speed Jacket for $119. I've got it and I think it's the perfect alternative to wearing mesh gear.
