Looks like Reggie Bush's family went from living in an apartment to a $757,000 house purchased by someone else trying to get Reggie Bush to sign with an agency during the 2005-2006 season.
If found guilty of recieving extra benefits, Reggie Bush will be declared ineligible for the 2005-2006 season and USC must forefeit all games he played in.
So, if this is true, that would make all his stats null/void as well as his Heisman which should then go to the #2 man....Vince Young.
Cue the "Cops" theme music. "Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?"

that shit happens all the time. Just like Lebron James. His mom was working some meaningless job, barely affording rent, then out of nowhere she can afford to buy her 18 year-old son a brand new Hummer H2, custom embroidered seats ("King James"), custom sound system, PS2 and screens installed in it, etc., etc.. Yeah, I'm sure she bought all that with her own money  . I think they dismissed that and found no wrongdoing, but USC seems to be fucked since the only name on the deed is a guy working at an sports advertising place.
Who really cares? The season is done and gone, regardless no major college program is clean, even your beloved UT horns.

Its just more icing on the cake. Everyone wanted to try and take pot shots at VY and now its Reggie Bush and USC's turn to get knocked down a few rungs.

In lebrons case they said it was on a loan for FUTURE ASSETS thats how they got out of it i believe.....so reggie could probably pull of the same thing....but lebron was not in a college either.....what can they do to a highschool student.

You've got that the other way around. Cedric Benson had his TV stolen from his residence and went to reclaim it. Totally different situation than a player and his family getting handed $757,000.

LeBron never had any intentions of going to college anyway. All they could have done was suspend him for his HS games.

You realize this story lacks any merit simply because his mother being catered to by a Agent is not the same as Bush himself being in the mix. You see the article does state that
" NCAA statutes prohibit student-athletes or their families from receiving extra benefits from professional sports agents, marketing companies or their representatives. A breach of these statutes could result in an athlete being ruled ineligible, and games in which they played could be forfeited"
So even though they can press the issue just like any statute or law it goes to court for a reason. This is like finding Bush guilty of a DUI if his mother gets one. Do I think these agents broke the rules? (yes) Did RG's mom break the rules? (Yes) Did she know? (maybe or maybe or maybe not)
I feel it would be a shame if Bush was in fact punished for his families misgivings. Oh by the way he won the Heisman fair and square VY was a great college player no doubt but he didn't get voted as number one when the ballots were counted. It is simply your opinion that he should have won the Heisman thid doesn't make you right or wrong just your opinion. I can understand why some felt he should have it but had he not won the National title a few weeks later I wonder if everyone would have still been as set on this idea. I think the UT faithful are pissed because Bush won the Heisman and is the most likely the number one pick. I guess it asking to much to just be happy with a National Title

" NCAA statutes prohibit student-athletes or their families from receiving extra benefits from professional sports agents, marketing companies or their representatives. A breach of these statutes could result in an athlete being ruled ineligible, and games in which they played could be forfeited"
Reading is FUNdamental, and it's right there in plain english. And to say his mom might or might not have known is laughable at best. Every NCAA athlete AND THEIR PARENTS have to sign paperwork when they enter the NCAA clearinghouse.

Texas fans are killing me here! Vince Young was NOT the best player in the NCAA last year.
And do you really want him winning the Heisman by default???? That is a sorry way to win anything. he lost the Heisman, get the fuck over it. Your team won the National Title, what more do you want?
Think about it.....

Some people have really bad memories. VY outplayed the 2 past Heisman winners head-to-head.
Also, I was listening to ESPN radio today and the Heisman comittee is lookiing into this as well and may strip Reggie Bush of his Heisman if he is declared ineligible by the NCAA.

VY showed the world who the best player was in college ball, and I didn't even believe in him...

Former USC OT Winston Justice is also named in there.
I'd say this is definately even more concrete than the previously released evidence and Bush's parents abruptly moving everything they owned out of that house in 24 hours.

What the hell does UT and VY have to do with ANY of this??!!
Bush and his family MUST follow all NCAA guidelines. PERIOD. There are no ifs, ands, buts, or asterisks about it.
If his family (even though totally unknown to Bush) broke the rules then He has to take the fall.
This isn't about VY getting a free Heisman, or my team is better than yours crap. This is about following guidelines set up by the NCAA for the protection of college amature athletics. And if he or anyone in his immediate family took benefits then proper sanctions should be administered.
I find it incredibly unfortunate cause Bush is a great player who will most likely be a future standout in the NFL, but rules are rules and you can't just look over stuff like this cause of his player stature.

I think it is Bullshit to make these kids play there asses off while paying the colleges millions, the coaches are making hundreds of thousands of dollars and they get little or nothing. They are expected to stay in school and forgo the big money. Hell Bush would have been a first round pick last year just as VY would have. Some of you were wishing for VY to stay another year at Texas and not because you gave two shits about him but you wanted another Championship run.

As to the rest of your comments, SOME OF YOU spent a year telling us how Texas and VY sucked, how (LMMFGDAO) Reggie McNeal was a better QB, how Vag Tech was a better team, Alabama was a better team, USC was a better team, and how Texas was winning in spite of VY.
Now, some of you who were doing that are suddenly the defender of what is right and wrong for VY. Amazing.

You are turning this into a UT versus Bush thread I am simply pointing out what is wrong with the treatment of college players and it just so happens the two best players in my opinion today from last season are Bush and VY. I guess if you find it reasonable to not change an opinion in light of new evidence i.e. a Hiesman and a National title then be ignorant thatis your right. Last season in October I thought USC was the better of the two teams and old Matt was the best player. After the big game I knew UT was the best team and felt VY had the best single game the one that counted but Bush had the best overall season thus in my mind making them a tie for best player.
Do you feel it would have been best for VY to stay at UT another season?

As much as I would have liked to see VY stay another year, he did the best thing for himself...take the money while it's there. His value could not have gone up any more after the Rose Bowl Show.

I think it would be funny if they had to forfeit the games. I hope they don't give Vince the Heisman. If they take it away from Bush that would be fine, but to "win" it as the runner up would be about as fullfilling as your mom saying you are a good looking kid when you are having doubts about yourself in high school. There are rumors that Bush took money the year before too. But they better not give my Sooners the title because they didn't deserve it that year. Winning by default is lame.
