Does anyone know if the UFC is going to let Gracie wear his "Ghee" or "Gi" not sure which one is right, but I heard they stopped letting them wear them and I know that Gracie use to wear his because opponents were more likely to grab him vs. strike him?

Any predictions on the fight too ??

The NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission) does not allow shoes OR Gi's so no he won't be wearing it. Another thing that will lend to Matt Hughes crushing Royce. I think it is going to be sad to see Royce getting pounded on for what may be 3 full rounds.

I really don't see that happening. Hughes might win, but it wont be early and if he does, it wont be by KO or ground and pount. More likely whoever wins, will win by submission.

Matt is just insane powerful. I think the match will be Matt slaming Gracie all over the cage & gracie going for submission's & eventually a ground & pound stopage.

Yeah, he's strong, but what happened to all that "insane power" when he fought BJ ????

You ever notice a fighter always says, "Oh well I took the fight lightley, or I didn't train, or my leg was hurt, or my arm, etc etc etc blah blah blah" AFTER they lose, but when they win, you don't hear about all of that.

Excuses are like............nevermind. :D

I'm a Hughes fan, but his chances against Gracie are slim to none. Yuo can't really even give Hughes the "punchers chance" seeing how he favors the ground game where Gracie wil obvisouly tear him a new one. Btw, Gracie is NOT Gi dependant. He was just allowed to it before where it offered him extra leverage so he used it of course.

So what are you expecting....Royce by submission? That is his only way to win here. UFC judges aren't going to give him a decision for humping Matt for 3 rounds and we know Royce has zero GnP and stand up ability so......I just don't see Royce winning this. I don't think you are giving Matt's sub defense enough credit. Matt respects Royce enough to play it safe and keep the fight where he wants it.

You can quote me, this is NOT for the title. The next title defense for Hughes is Hughes vs. GSP II.

JKD
04-15-2006, 01:23 PM
It is NOT a title defense. Gracie is still under contract over in Japan. They came to an agreement on this one time thing. I'm sure there is some profit sharing on the PPV between Pride/UFC on this one.

Matt, don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE Hughes fan. I love hearing that "country boy can survive" intro song everytime. But, Gracie is another whole level of grappling. You can train for MMA style grappling, the ground and pound etc. The thing about Gracie BJJ, is that they come at you at all sorts of angles that most people don't even know to train for. Unless they had someone come in that's Gracie related to train with him, it's gonna be REALLY tough for him to defend from those Gracie angles. Gracie transistions are another whole level too. Going from one technique straight to another that just seamlessly flow together. That's something you really have to train for with someone who is experienced in this. It's not just typical BJJ. I'm not saying that Hughesisnt smart enough to know this and train for it, but a few months experience versus a guy who has been doing it his whole life just simply is not going to be enough.

Of course they are gonna hype this one. It's another Tito/Ken type of rivalry. Old hero passing the torch to the new hero. Very good marketing here.

Hughes is favored. What floors me is that rumor has it, Royce is set to make a cool $1M for this fight! WTF is up w/that? If that is true, he makes more than double some of the current UFC champs for a single fight. Most of the lower tier fighters make $2K min to fight in PPV events.

Good to see that Royce will go against an opponent whose hair he can't pull. After that fight with Kimo I have always thought of him as a cheap fighter. No gi this time along with no strikes to the back of the head. I think that Hughes should have a large advantage over his much older opponent. But who knows the last PPV stunned a lot of people. I was angry to see Forrest lose his fight and watching the Pitbull lose and Nick Diaz not taking advantage of his reach against Sherk. Goes to show that anything can happen and very quickly. At least it was much more exciting than the Ultimate Fight Night.

Matt is going to win. It may not be a decisive victory, it may not be the hardcore ground and poundage, but in the end when its all said and done, Big John Mcarthy will be raising Matt's arm in the air and big nosed gay fag....sorry I mean Royce will be standing in utter defeat. Needless to say I dont like Royce very much. I havent seen all of his matches, but every match I have seen, its Royce relying heavily on this canvas underwear ( also known as a Gi ) , or its Royce landing his pussy rabbit punches to the back of the head, or its Royce punching or knee'ing his opponents groin, or... its Royce delivering a stunning headbutt to his opponent. It seemed that in every match I watched, every time Royce was trying to get a submission hold onto an opponent he would use one or more of the above tactics to make his opponent loosen their grip in order for him to apply the hold.... well nowdays all of the above tactics are not allowed, as in illegal, as in bad juju, as in Royce " I built this house " Gracie might actually have to use some legitimate tactics on matt if he is going to have a chance. In a nuttshell... look for matt hughes to win this fight, make sure you tape it because after losing it will be Royce's very last UFC appearance. ( I am sure Royce will still be making his occasional hard core backdoor gay porns from time to time if you're into that sorta stuff )

Matt, that's my brother. He loves giving me a hard time. Ever since we were kids he's giving me a hard time about the arts, but he's slowly come around over the years. You know how older brothers can be. lol. The first time I tapped him in the leg with my shin he realized that it was a effective technique but still did not want to admit the arts were "cool". Weeks after the shin kick, I caught him walkin around kickin posts, walls andstuff with his shin tryin to get the hang of it, he just didnt want me to know he liked it. hahaha. Now he's a UFC nut, we're both bigMatt Hughes fan, but he feels betrayed that I think Gracie is going to win and not Hughes. So he's breakin my balls about it.

I think you mean I am busting your raisins about it. Anybody like that likes gracie over hughes surely is a card carrying member of the " I built this house but I am scared to get hit in the face because it will mess up my mug for the camera and then I cant make anymore boy on boy cum guzzling trash flicks " club. it had typical wierd gracie rules.
the match was a draw if it went to a decision. there was no judges.
If there were rules, Royce would have lost.
funny thing is the guy fighting Royce usually fights at 145 and 155 lbs.

Clearly you're one sided on this whole argument. I'll be the FIRST to tell you, ROYCE GRACIE DID BUILD THIS HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was fighting guys 74lbs heavier than he was and WINNING!!! Do you think Matt Hughes could bang with Chuck Liddell or even beat Randy Couture (2 light heavyweights)? Not a chance in HELL! Royce Gracie fought Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, Kimo, etc and all of those guys weighed a shitload more than he did.

Yeah Royce had his hand in Kimos hair, but so what, it was legal, hell the man outweighed him by 74lbs. Yes Royce uses tactics like headbutts, etc to get a better grip or work his way around opponents but you know what?

HE'S IN THE WINNERS CIRCLE!!!!

How can you NOT like Royce Gracie and like Matt Hughes? Matt Hughes is an arrogant prick. Hes lost a lot of fans just by his cocky attitude. Yeah I'll give Matt the credit he deserves, he's strong as hell and an excellent wrestler but he's not a GOD. He was losing to GSP when he pulled off that arm bar (luckily) and he got his ass whipped by BJ PENN. Even dumbass Frank Trigg had him beat in their last fight but f_cked that up!! lol. Instead of Matt Hughes giving Royce Gracie the respect he deserves, he badmouths the guy. How old is Gracie 39 yrs old???? I mean come on. If Gracie wins this one, I'd recommend he retire and go out as a champion. I know that it's NOT a title fight, but him retiring whipping a champion would be nice. Whether Gracie wins or loses, he's still a champion, no matter how gay you think he is...........by the way, you need to chill out on the gay comments. Anyone who constantly makes gay remarks constantly, makes people wonder about you. :o

It's the one that decides the UFC (based in NV if I remember correctly) rules.
