laptop battery ?'s

A friends laptop seems to be stuck in an infinite loop of "Dell Laptop Battery Recalibration Process"?? follow directions, fully charge, fully discharge, fully charge.........then process repeats. It comes up prior to BIOS, you can just ESC out and it will boot into Windows no problem, but will go into battery recalibration upon every reboot even after completing the cycling. I tried to find an option to disable in BIOS to no avail. Laptop is about 4 months old, all signs point to dead battery, just wondering if anyone else had any opinions.

4 months old? still under warranty? call the dell indian support line and you might get a replacement battery for free..... after a few hours on the phone, and probably having to participate in a survey.
