Modano got tied up with Anaheim's Jonathan Hedstrom near the boards to the right of Dallas' bench and the Stars captain went down awkwardly. After a few minutes of laying on the ice while team trainers attended to him, Modano was eventually helped back to the locker room.

Head Coach Dave Tippett said after the game that the injury was not as serious as it looked.

"Mike tweaked an old injury and it looked worse than it was," said Tippett. "He plans on skating tomorrow so he should be fine. When any player goes down, you get scared but he looked fine walking out of here and seemed fine. I spoke to him afterwards and there's not much to evaluate. We won't take any chances with him."

Modano's injury was clearly the focal point of the night, but there also was a pretty good NHL game going on.

"The fact that mike is probably going to be alright makes this win even sweeter," said Marty Turco. "One of our goals going into the season was a division title and now we need to continue to fine tune our game for the playoffs."
