Spyware Strike Virus?

My girlfriend, bless her heart, was downloading things she shouldn't have been and now has this annoying "Spyware Strike" popping up everywhere. It automatically installs itself on every restart, throws pop-ups left and right, and is ultimately turning her computer into a giant desktop paper weight.

Any tips on how to remove this garbage for free?

Go to http://www.safer-networking.org/ and install Spybot. Nice free tool that runs in the background and protects your machine from Spyware / Adware etc
