My girlfriend had a great idea.

If they were to pass some sort of illegal immagrant = felony legislation, she said those caught should be made to go down to the border and provide labor building that wall they want to install along the tex/mex boarder, followed by deportation.

LABOR CAMPS FOR ALIENS, sounds like a wise appropriation of free labor to me!

IMO, if someone is convicted, and carry's the title of felon, they can be made to do tasks at the discretion of those detaining them...right?

step back about 80-90 years and you would see plenty of irish/polish/jewish/italian immigrants fighting, and fighting hard to get that money. The irish poor got in scraps with chinese when they were building the railroads in the 18th century leading out west, fighting hard for jobs.

I'm not so sure there is prefered treatment among felons, based on race, in this country. I could be wrong, I've never witnessed/observed first hand, but I suspect NOT.

I think the point of titling someone a felon, is that its a generalization that removes any bias/prefered treatment from a convict based on some 'protected-status'

I'm willing to bet that if American Felon's got wind of some protected-class felon getting different treatment, there'd be a bit of a problem (revolt).

Personally, I think its a bit lax, and doesn't discourage somone to stop commiting the crime.

Illegals work for less because they're here illegally and no one will give them a legit pay. They don't bitch about it because they are here illegally. If they bitched about it they'd be out of work. Not far off at all. I, however, would be in favor of such a plan. If people have to pay 20% sale tax on house hold goods, but no more income tax and no more IRS then I'd say go for it. People wouldn't bitch about rich people not being taxed enough and the poor taxed too much. Everyone would be taxed equally based on what they purchase. You can't get out of purchasing clothes and groceries, which is where the majority of the tax would be applied. Granted, it wouldn't be any good for the illegal immigration situation, since one of the Republican arguing points for tightening up is that we are wasting our tax money on these people while they don't pay anything in for a return.

I don't see it that they are fairly competing for jobs with americas. An employer can pay a person less without healthcare and can fire them without having to pay unemployment, just because they are an illegal.

I don't like this law because the illegal aliens are breaking the law now, and adding anther law, wup-dee-do.

The law should be a $10,000 fine to a business per illegal alien. A wistler blower gets half the fine, even if they are an illegal. So a company found with 10 illegal aliens have to pay $100,000 fine. The jobs will dry up. The illegal aliens can walk back to where ever they came from.

The only problem with that plan, is the kids. If a kid of illegal aliens parents was born here and can't speak spanish, I have a hard time sending them back, disadvantaged.

I think it should be a felony to hire illegal immigrants, so if business owners wish to save a buck on labor and screw tax payers out of their money then fine and jail them also. I have no issue with allowing immigrants in legally that wish to work. If the illegals have no jobs they will be less influenced to immigrate here from whatever country the reside.

I did many many rotations through JPS and got stuck in FastTrack which is their dr service for people who cant afford to go to a real doctor. He never performed shitty work, nor did he demand more money. I get home at about 7 every night now a days, later when I attend grad school, I leave home every day at 6:45 am. I know for a fact that over 50% of the kids I work with are hispanic. As a parent and a leader in the military, I instilled a work ethic to my children and men under my leadership. I've only had a couple that I had to stay on top of and watch closely, 3 or 4 were hispanic and one was white. I've had 5 secretaries and all were white and they absolutly busted their ass off and it rubbed me raw as hell that I couldn't give them pay raises as often as I wanted.

There is no silver bullet to this issue. I come across as a "right-winger" a lot of times, but this is a sticky situation for so many reasons. I wonder what DISD is thinking, when a few weeks ago, they were considering hiring illegals to teach in their schools! This is one reason I knock so hard on public education (mainly admin)- most of them have NO COMMON SENSE! The main thing that needs to be done, is to control the border NOW. I mean SHIT! The reason Mexico doesn't have an Olympic team, is because everyone that can run, jump, or swim is already here!
