I mean, I think we are going after any nation that aids terrorists, no?

Russia provided intelligence to Iraq's government on U.S. military movements in the opening days of the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, a Pentagon report released on Friday said.

Are they still actively aiding Iraq? Are they still actively aiding terrorists? Are they willing to stop now that we know about it if they are still doing it?

Tell me they ignore years of UN and world calls to stop this activity, assuming they still are, and they may get on the radar screen, but I doubt they will let it go as far as the Taliban and Saddam did.

Didn't someone, maybe Syria, give up their WMD/aiding terrorist activity without being attacked?

They aided N. Vietnam, we aided the Afghanistan rebels (Osama) against them. And so it goes I guess. lol

I'd say that giving military troop movements and military plans to Iraq for the days leading up to the war is pretty serious. Also, Russia admits to having a Russian military intelligence unit (oxymoron) operating in Baghdad through the fall of Baghdad.

If Iraq was helping terrorists and Russia was helping Iraq then Russia was helping terorrists.

Time to kick some Russian butt. Shouldn't take much longer than the takeover of Iraq.

Rumor is they also lost some people when they tried to smuggle out parts of an AH-64 Longbow Apache that was shot down.

If Russia helped Iraq then it just shows that their intelligence is a lot worst than ours. Look how well it helped them.

I wonder if Hitler said the same thing. Well without the Iraq part.

Russia is a broke mofo at the moment. We'd have more trouble with the Russian Mob than with the Russian Army.

I wrote a college Gov't paper 25 years ago, taking the "pro" side for Isolationism. I was young and silly then (as I sometimes am now), but I still kind of feel that way. It seems like EVERYONE would love to see us fall, and BIG.

I wrote a college Gov't paper 25 years ago, taking the "pro" side for Isolationism. I was young and silly then (as I sometimes am now), but I still kind of feel that way. It seems like EVERYONE would love to see us fall, and BIG.

Since 1987:

Consumer credit went from 670 billion to 2.1 trillion
Oustanding household debt went from 2.7 trillion to 10.7 trillion
Domestic business debt went from 1.9 trillion to 5.2 trillion
Trade deficit went from -150 billion to -800 billion
Forgein owned US assets went from 1.7 trillion 11.5 trillion

The Empire has mortgaged its future for a very long time. At some point it is time to pay the piper. Greenspan got out at the right time.

We can't afford isolationism. The world cannot afford isolationism. If Japan or China decided they didn't want to help fund our consumers that spend more than they earn their own economies would plunge.

It is going to be a situation of "who flinched first". Countries are positioning themselves for the fall of the Empire and once one of them crafts the situation that is most beneficial to them they will move.

I do not envy "Big Ben" Bernanke at the moment. He is going to have the job of cleaning up the Empire from the hangover that is sure to come.

Now, I don't know if that hangover starts in 2006 (doubtful), 2007 or 2025 but the hangover will start and its gonna be a bad one.

Oh, I know we can't afford it now, but most of my theories involved us Immediately after WWII. It may have worked, and at the time, I had a pretty good argument. Hell, I'm still holding out hope that Texas will secede... ;)

I believe you have to step back from WWII to Woodrow Wilson as the point in which the US went off the slipery slope of Empire building.

The most stunning quote from Wilson (which actually has some resemblance to our current leader) was, "Rememeber that God ordained that I should be the next President of the United States. Neither you nor any mortal or mortals could have prevented this." (Why have elections at all?)

WWI was entered into by the United States to make the world "safe for democracy." So, here we have a man ordained by God to be President but he believed he could create a World better than the one God left him by somehow looking into the future and improving it before history happened.

Which I had more time to delve into Wilson between his handling of WWI and Mexico it is amazing we beat the odds back then.

May we are the choosen country. :D

Yea, I'm starting to believe Texas would be better off getting out of the Union.

Putin still has a red button he can push. That and do we really want to deal with Chechnya? Besides we trained and supplied the opposition forces in Afghanistan against them and they didn't try to attack us.
