I havn't ridden in nearly 3 years so I wasn't exspecting much for my time out.

Ok first laps around the track were put put laps. The track had big rock chunks like they had drug the track and let it dry so just going slow I was feeling really sketchy. I thought to myself. This blowz arse and I'm not going to be able to do anything. Just bought boots today and they were really stuff so that made it worse. Well I start making laps and jumping just the small jumps. Not just real smooth but at least I was jumping. By the end of the day though I was making some pretty decent laps and I only have two jumps that I havn't jumped. They are pretty big jumps. One is like a 70-80 foot double that I would have jumped but the approach was so bad and first time to ride in a few years i didn't want to eat it. Man this bike is awesome. I can do 90% of the track in 3rd gear. I like it because you don't need to "clutch it" off the corners to get it in the power band. Come out of a corner in 3rd all the down the stretch in 3rd and jump all in the same gear. Really cuts down on shifting a lot. The layout of the track is really good IMO. It's not just one huge jump after another even though there are some hairy ones out there. It was super dry and kinda rocky so my back tire is already showing wear which sucks. Time to invest in a new set of rims and tires for when I go to the prepped tracks like badlands. I have some video and I will post it pretty soon.

All it all it was a good day because I did not eat any dirt. :D

I will jump that step up next time and I was jumping that first small double at the end of the day. It was hard to keep it straight with the ground like it was and still clear it off the corner.

Damn it sounds like you had a good time! You look good out there for not having ridden a dirt bike in 3 years.

That Honda you have is a good bike, but I am not sure if you are aware of the valve issues that the 250F's have? Hondas are notorious for the valves going out of spec and shooting a valve through the piston. Routine maintenance and an oil change every few hours or so should help.

Not sure if you have been out to this webiste before but it is full of useful information

You always whine about how far to drive and it's a long ways from you.

Yeah it was fun. I'm very aware of the troubles they are suppose to have but I have talked to a few people who say if you don't neglect your bike and keep up with all the normal maitenance then you will get good life out of the motor. I'm hoping to that they have done something to correct the problem with the 06's. So far so good for me. I need to check the valves and right down the #'s so I can compare them for when its time for a scheduled valve check.

Got this off thumper talk.

The valve seat material seems to be holding up better on the 2006 models with some extended valve train life, but I don’t believe as of February 2006 that the bike has been out long enough to really tell the true tale of its new and improved head design.

It wouldn't have been the first time I've been "railed" so no thats now why. I was just finishing the break in on my bike.

It is a fun track! I can't wait to hit it when the ground is nice a moist. It's going to be fast! The track is about 10 miles from me so I'm pretty lucky I am so close to it.
