Ok, so Richardson Motorsports rebuilt the bottom end on 8/24/05, and the motor is screwing up now! So i call Yamaha, because imo, this should be a warranty repair again since its only been 7 months. Yeah, they are worthless pieces of shit!!! They won't do shit, and tell me that its a 90 day warranty!! Thats bullshit!! and Adam told me this morning that Yamaha told him, that if something were to go wrong with this motor, they would stand behind it, but they don't want to now? WTF?!?!? And unfortunate for me, Adam did not get this in writing. Fuck Yamaha!!! I won't buy another Yamaha again!!

Damn that F-ing sucks big donkey balls!!!!

Do you know what exactly is tearing up inside??

perezsteveo

How many miles does it have??

cbrjames

I don't know exactly whats wrong inside, but from the way it sounds, i'm thinking a bearing, especially since a new crank was put in it. And clock shows 20,xxx. I don't know the mileage Adam put on it since it was rebuilt.

are you still riding it??? If so what time do you get off??? So maybe you can run by my shop and we can check it out

cbrjames
03-02-2006, 03:34 PM
No, its not going to make it 5 miles as loud as it is. I thought about taking it to Scott at Cycle Werkz to he can check it out, but i don't even want to risk that 2 mile ride.

perezsteveo
03-02-2006, 03:52 PM
Yeah i wouldnt risk starting it or riding it......

No problems with my Red 04 Yam. Best bike I've ever ridden and I've got experience on about 86 different bikes now. I was the one who popped the seal on the first oil change and I'm the only one who's worked on the motor. That's the way it will stay with this bike. That way I know no one is going to f-up anything.

90 days!! That sucks try to talk to the yamaha rep or the gm of the dealership. I think they should at lease offer to meet you half way. How many miles did you put on it?

first problem is actually letting a monkey in a dealership into an engine with all the mud covered 4 wheelers sitting next to it. Suzuki pays their monkey's 8 hours to take out, dissassemble, clean, check bearings and basically rebuild a whole engine and get it back in the bike.........LOL the manufacturers are deffinately getting what they pay for on warranty labor rates. A complete rebuild with a piston kit is in the $2500 range, let me know what you want done.

Really? I was told that it was 20 hours to do all that. Thats what we do motors for in cars.

we charge for 17 hours with the engine out of the bike, $55 per hour. vavle job is $325. Unfortunately the parts bill is way over our labor bill most of the time.

Haha, i thought of that! Well, that is what Yamaha said they warranty it for, and Richardson said 30 fuckin days!! I'm sorry that they can't stand behind their work for longer than that. I guess they know their techs aren't worth a shit either.

Man, being my first Yamaha that i've actually purchased, i don't have alot of faith in them. And from the way everyone talks about the 10's, i'd love to try one, but they are just ugly to me.

Well, after more trips to the track than anyone could possibly imagine and 5 clutches later.......2 oil pans (my fault)........and even driving it home one night with oil pouring out of the bottom of the pan and 13k miles later that 04 is still running strong......never skipped a beat, consistant 118 mph in the 1/8. That's why there's a 06 version sitting in my garage right now......I thought about going Suzuki for seat height reasons and to be honest it would be my second choice.....but I have a more faith in Kawasaki than ANYTHING at this point, that bike never let me down.

Well, my first two bikes back in the day were Kawi's, and i wasn't too impressed. But that was well over 10 years ago. My 900rr was a 93, and was built tougher than shit! I have alot of faith in Honda. And my 02 Gixxer 1k was awesome as well.

You're just lucky your frame hasn't cracked (yet) and that your front wheel hasn't disintigrated.

Well, i picked it up today, and they say its either the clutch basket, or the rotor assembly that goes to the stator. Either way, i'm looking out the wazzoo to have it fixed. I found a deal on the parts, so i'm going to take it to Cycle Werkz tomorrow and see what kind of deal Scott will cut me.

Please tell me that your not going to pay someone to change a clutch basket. You can do that James.
