Never really thought about posting this on here before, but I got bored enough to remember there was a Motorcycle forum on here. I got an '03 SV650 like 4-5 months ago, took the rider safety course, and started riding. Had been nothing but fun since then, and hadn't had any problems. That changed dramatically on Jan 19th. I'd tell you what happened, but I don't remember any of the accident (or the week after), and we're hiring someone to help figure out the truth behind it. End result was I made contact with a Ford Focus with my helmet (face first). I was going probably 15-20mph, and he was probably going about 15-20mph at the time of the incident. The impact broke my nose through my helmet, and fractured 3 vertebrae, and the base of my skull. I was Careflighted to Parkland hospital, and was there until Feb. 9th. When I first got there, I had brain bleeding for a day or two, and based on that and the extent of my injuries made them expect me for be there for 2-3 months, but I was there for exactly 3 weeks... thank God for being young. I've been wearing a medical halo since the 2nd day at the hospital, and hopefully (not sure) am getting it off tomorrow. When I get details on what really happened, I'll share them, but just wanted to let ya'll know that I'm taking this as a hint that there are too many idiots on the streets for me to be riding, and I'll keep my happy ass in a car (when I get the halo off)

good luck with your decision. Nothing wrong with feeling like it's not worth it. Just glad that you seem to be okay even though you're wearing a goofy gay halo :p :)

I think it's a blessing too. And I'm still not scared to ride a motorcycle... just became apparent that as careful as we are, and as much as we watch for the idiots that don't watch us, shit can still happen at any time that we have no control over. I'm gonna miss it, but not enough to let the other idiot driver's on the road control my life. There wasn't a single time I went out riding that I didn't almost get hit. I just got unlucky once, and that's enough.

man greg i know youve been through a lot. afterall i walked off an airplace on jan. 19 got in my car (in disbelief) and drove to parkland to see you. the first few days they really thought the worst, im glad youre ok. after being down myself (although i didnt have your injuries) i know how you feel. i would say you are the luckiest person i know and wouldnt give up on riding. heal up as did i and in a short time your gonna get that urge to ride again. the last couple days i have talked to you on the phone i keep asking if youre still getting rid of the bike. you really should keep it for a while longer make sure everything is healed up and start riding again. i am trying to get a bike myself and need a good rider to go with me on the weekends. i think you would really enjoy it, dont let this keep you down. you were riding daily and in some pretty nasty traffic! thats always risky, but if we were to ride on sunday mornings lets say from arlington to waxhacie(sp?) and back you would have a lot of fun. my buddy Pat is planning on taking a trip this summer to arkansas and has invited me to go if i do buy a bike before then. i think you would have a blast taking a trip like this and riding in a group. think it over and give it some time, i bet you change your mind if you get another taste for it!

Good news... only about 2.5 weeks till I get my halo off. And Kyle... sorry, but the bike's gotta go if for no other reason than out of respect for my mom.

Good decision on giving it up after such a bad accident. It just isn't worth it sometimes.
