A guy was testing this weekend at Firebird in Az and tech was telling him that if you change or add a supercharger, turbo or add nitrous, you will need an approved fire jacket. The tech was telling him that this was a new NHRA rule.
Anyone hear of this? The requirement was not ET or MPH dependant.

I was looking at all the rules I could find online and found nothing that said that.
If you add 2 turbos do you have to have 2 jackets? :D

It would prolly be a rule update in their racer mag.

Yea I looked at their recent rule updates and I didnt see anything so maybe it was just a dumb tech guy. If it wasnt going to rain on saturday I could find out what all is needed, all I have is a helmet, and should run a 10.XX.

Mike, that used to work at 'Dale, bitched at me for not having a jacket one time.

I bought one for safety anyway...I was running low 8's at the time :p

I heard the rule states if you run nitrous, a turbo, or a supercharger that did NOT come factory equipped on a vehicle, you had to wear fire protection. Even if the car only run's 13's!!!
They are really gonna crack down on safety now!

i dont understand why a power adder would automaticly make the car prone to fire. and no car has ever had nitrous factory, though i heard once that it was a unknown option on some pontiac many years back.
