I know I don't, especially the winter olympics. Lets see what percentage of dfwstangs "manly men" watch the olympics.

i've never understood the fascination with the olympics... i heard somebody reporting some stuff about it, this weekend, and i was thinking the same thing. people must watch it, though, if they have it on tv and advertise it so much...

I'll support my country as much as the next guy, but watching ice skating(which i still dont understand how it can be considered a sport  ), downhill skiing, curling, and 99% of the events can get EXTREMELY boring, imo. and the cool events, like the triathalon, barely get any coverage. its always the same-'ol same ol.... A little diversity would be great.

Ice skating is an exhibition. Anything where judges determine the winner is BUNK. So political. Speed skating, however......I do dig that.

The only thing I really care about is hockey, but I have no clue when any of that is on. So maybe I'll catch it, maybe I won't. Also, I like to catch the crazy events every now and then. It's fun to watch the skeleton and ski jumps and shit.

I will say this, USA is on a gold rush right now because we are whipping that ass in Gold medals. We are 2nd overall in total medals.

I absolutely agree. You must be able to determine a winner objectively, not subjectively.

I totally agree.
There are several sports out there that are very fun to watch. Can't help but stare in admiration at the best of the best in the world.

If It can't be timed, out distanced, or is scored without judges, OK. All the other stuff is just bull.

I used to care about it more when I was a kid. That's when sports had the players side by side as they compete, as in track and field or basketball or boxing, etc. Now it's more of the judging type sports where each "competitor" does his or her thing, then some panel of judges awards scores. It's not as exciting as the old school competitive sports, or team sports.
Look at the snowboard guys going down the half pipe. They go up one side and spin in the air. Repeat till they get to the bottom of the hill. Wait for scores to flash on screen. *yawn*
I like watching the old school sports. I like the edge-of-your-seat competitions. Not runway modeling type sports.

Im in between "all of it" and "ill watch if nothing else is on" so I won't vote. Ill make a point to watch certain events that interest me but certainly not ALL of it.
I think like alot have said, I mainly like the races where its all about being the fastest. Alpine skiing, speed skating (short and long track), Bobsled, Luge, Skeleton, etc... and then Im sure ill catch some of the hockey games.

Why watch them on TV when you can look up online who won what hours before NBC decides to show it?
