After the car being down for every bit of six months I finally got it running over the weekend. At first everything seem to be o.k as I was setting the timing and getting the idle set. Next thing you know I get this knock! It kind of sounded like rocker arms at first so I reset those, but it kept knocking. I can not really isolate where I thought the knock was coming from. At one point it sounded like it was coming from the back near the tranny, then up front around the alternator. So it is now time to pull the dam thing back out, tear it apart AGAIN, and see what I can find this time. So needless to say unless I can tear it apart, find the problem, fix it, get it back together, get to the track for some shake down passes I'm only going to be spectating at the cruise AGAIN! :(

man..that sucks. Be sure to check the flexplate/flywheel bolts before you go through the trouble of tearing it down again!

yep, check the flywheel/tourqe converter bolts and also the balancer before commiting to pulling the motor. Sucks though :(

Yea I was going to look around a bit more before I tore it down all the way. I really hope it is something simple and a quick fix, because if it has to come all the way down again there is no telling how long it will be before it is back together since my motivation has dropped considerably. :(

maybe its just the inlet pipe knocking on the strut tower... wouldn't that be great if it was only that...
Had the same thing happen to me and it was flex plate/torque converter..bolts. Shit got installed all messed up and I since learned to slow down and not get in a hurry.
Best of luck and hope it's something easy like mine was.

Well I can tell you all this much it was not the torque converter nuts. I just finished taking them off and them biatches was on there. I guess that lock tite works. So I have decided to take the motor out and take the pan off and see what I can find. Hopefully I find something simple but I'm not keeping my hopes up. I did however find where one of the washers on the crank pulley broke in half and fell out. I doubt that was my problem at least not entirely. The motor is ready to come out and waiting on an engine hoist now. I figue I will pull it out on Wednesday since I have school tomorrow night. Hopefully I will have an answer then. :o I just hope that I don't get it out open her up and can't find anything obvious.

That is what I was saying to be sure to check - the flexplate bolts are loose!!! That is all of the noise most likely (I hope)

I'll check the flexplate once i get it out and before I tear it down. I hope that is my only problem. :o

Sorry to hear about that, hope it's nothing serious. Let me know when you are ready to borrow the engine hoist again.

I pulled the motor yesterday and checked the flexplate bolts and it was not them. :( I'm going to double check the balancer today and take the pan off and see what I can find.
