FYI The Denton drag strip was " privately " offered for sale to the North Texas Karters for a cool 1.8 to 2 mill. NTK would love the land but could'nt swing the deal. Owners said they were not making enough $$$. I hope the strip can make it as I like to watch the cars turn around as I am waiting to race. Support your local Drag Strip @!!!

they were not making money because they could not operate the place.
BTW, have they ever let supermotard bikes race on the Kart track?

It's too small for that. They have mini-moto racing out there a few times a year, but even then, the "biggest" bike you will see would be an EX250 Kawasaki or a CRF150 4 stroke sans knobbies!

Sux to see a track in a position like that, I always hoped the strip would buy the go-kart track.

If Bruton Smith buys the NHRA, you know he is going to put a 1/4 track at Texas Motor Speedway. If he does that, kiss Denton Dragway good bye. I used to love going up there to race. Mainly because it was so close but track prep and them closing early when they feel like it turned me off.
I'd love to have a state of the art 1/4 mile track within 10 miles of my house!

Hate to see it go, but don't like going there anymore. It just doesn't compare to K-dale. Can't see the track well and the prep has been very questionable at times. Used to go out there all the time.
Kennedale and Yellow Belly aren't much further away from Ennis than Denton is from TMS and they still do pretty good. Then again Ennis opens on a whim and track prep is inconsistent as well.
They've never had real bleachers. I don't see how you can expect fans to show up consistently when they have to stand up against a fence with a limited view of the track. No restrooms on site, only portapotties. The concession stand is a joke, on a KOTH night if you wanted a burger it'd be faster to drive to Denton and pick one up at Dairy Queen. Then on a really busy night it might take you an hour to get through the gate and you'll have to park way the hell out in BFE and walk atleast a half mile to get to the pit side.

Kenny Barnes is building it. It's Crandall btw, SE of Dallas kind of by the Cedar Creek track.

Denton put in some bleachers (could use more) and bathrooms about a year ago. They could stand to actually clean the bathooms though; at least the porta potties were cleaned and serviced occasionally.
Someone with some enthusiam needs to buy that place and run it correctly; no reason it can't be profitable.

Most of the bleachers weren't even theirs!
