"What's worse than Vince Young playing for the Tennessee Titans?

Try this on for size:

I have a friend who is in an 'intern' with the Dallas Cowboys. The whispers around Dallas indicate that Jerry Jones is trying to work a trade in order for the Dallas Cowboys to acquire the second pick in the NFL Draft from the New Orleans Saints. This has apparently leaked to the local Dallas media, and has been reported on the local Dallas news/sports TV and Radio shows.

On top of that, I also heard them talking about it on Sports Radio 610 today.

So, if you think that Vince Young playing for the Tennessee Titans would be bad, how about Vince Young playing for the Dallas Cowboys?

This sounds exactly like the kind of thing that the Dallas Cowboys would make a strong push for...
And sadly, the Texans will probably lose a lot of fans if this happens"

The radio station guy is talking about said it would be something like the Cowboys 1st and second picks this year, either Greg Ellis or La'Roi Glover, and a 1st or 2nd next year"

i read about this the other day...but when has Jerry Jones been a fan of longhorns?
The only time i remember him ever wanting a Longhorn so bad was Jammer..but Chargers took him and we ended up wit the better deal..Roy Williams :D

PULL THE TRIGGER ON THIS DEAL PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

The Cowboys have never had a QB worth anything after Aikman retired. Quincy Carter was the only one who even got us to the playoffs. C'mon Deep Pockets!!!!

I'd give up either player and a second pick depending on how it hits them on the salary cap. It'd be funny though if Houston went and drafted him instead and we got stuck with Reggie Bush:) Leinhart's no slouch either though, you can't lose with any of the first three picks.

The only problem I have with VY is whats gonna happen when some of the NFL sized guys start tackling him? High dollar mobile QBs just don't seem to last very long in the NFL. Culpepper, McNabb and Vick have all missed lots of time the last couple of years due to injuries. I'd hate to pay the guy $10,000,000 a year to sit on the side lines riding a freakin excercise bike. I want to see a Peyton Manning or Tom Brady in there and I think Leinart is a lot closer to that than VY.

Don't get me wrong, I love Peyton Manning's game and he is the best QB in the NFL right now. However, as I stated earlier, the only QB that has gotten us to the playoffs since Aikman was Quincy Carter and he was somewhat of a mobile QB. VY to the Cowboys gets my vote!

I've always thought that Leinart would be a better NFL QB than VY. Look at the kinds of QBs that are successful in the NFL today. Just like you said, Manning, Brady, pocket passers. I think it would be stupid to draft Vince Young before Leinart just because of the pattern of scramblers missing so much time. But I don't get paid to make the decisions, never will, and don't care. My team has a QB situation that they need to deal with too (Jake Plummer).

Jake Plummer is a good QB, but has no real recievers to throw to. Rod Smith is about ready to retire and Lelie isn't that good. Hopefully they can get T.O. and then Jake "The Snake" can get all the haters off of him.

with as bad as our o-line is, it doesn't matter who you put back there, the Cowboys need to build a line before they go after a big time QB.

Plummer is good, I agree with that. It just seems like too much of a process to me for him to quit making his mental errors. He's the only right handed QB I've ever seen throw an interception left handed. I hope Denver can get TO and shake off the haters, but either way, then need to get a star reciever. I've also heard rumors of Denver pursuing David Terrell from Chicago.

with as bad as our o-line is, it doesn't matter who you put back there, the Cowboys need to build a line before they go after a big time QB.

Before you build the o-line, you need to know what type of quarterback you're building it for, pocket or scrambler. Once you get a young quarterback, be it VY or Leinhart, you have time to build up an o-line. It's harder to do when you're swapping QB's every year! Once they all gel together with a young QB, it'll be much better.

If they need to trade someone, it needs to be Ellis, I remember them saying something that he wanted to quit on the Cowboys or something!

Vote #2 on VY to the Cowboys!

As for Plummer, he has the potential to be a great QB, he just falls back into that mindset that he's playing for the Cardinals and every game is in his hands, making mistakes in the process. An example of that, the championship game!

D
02-06-2006, 05:54 PM
In the AFC championship game he was in the same situation that he was always in in AZ...having to win the game through the air, which he is not good at. Denver can't win if they have to overcome big deficits late in the game. John Elway would've won that game, Plummer ended it before it started.

He would be a good catch but JJ wants a "what can you do for me now QB" and VY is gonna need a good year or two to get the cowboys rolling.

Can't win with a black QB? Doug Williams and the 'skins, circa 1988 (?) or about. Jerry likes whatever makes him money- winning super bowls or whatever. I'll believe it when I see it, but it would be fun...

racist or not black QB's cant get it done when its crunch time in the NFL. And yes I know that Williams had won a super bowl, but one time that says something right there for itself.

Well it could be the fact that only 3 Black QBs have played in the Super Bowl. And go ahead and say it's because they can't make it there.

finally someone with some football knowlege, and vince may be good in the NFL but only time can tell, but you have to remember he will be drafted by one of the worst teams in the league, so 2 to 3 years min. for a playoff birth.

A main thing to consider tho is it hasnt been that long for black quarterbacks starting, compared to white quarterbacks. The odds as far as teams starting a black quarterback and a team starting a white quarterback are highly in favor of a white qb winning it all

the last time the cowboys put a lot of effort to get a scrambling qb it worked out pretty good for them and they even had to wait 4yrs(?) after drafting him before he could play. i think Roger Stabauch(sp?) worked out pretty good for 'em. now, roger the dodger was a great college qb who ended being a great pro qb. will vy do the same? only time will tell. but i don't think it will happen in a cowboy uniform though.
