3 players were missing from the MVP parade yesterday. Well, 4 if you count Harvey Martin.
Martin is deceased......good excuse.
Bradshaw cited needing to spend time with his family.....lame. He has a whole offseason to do that.
Scott Jake (I think) was on an Outback safari...understandable.
And Joe Montana didn't make it because.....the money wasn't right.
1000 bucks for expenses, Presidential suites a the Hyatt Regency, a Caddy for the week, and free bowl tickets.........but he didn't feel that was enough.
He is the greatest QB to ever play the game, and up until hearing about this was one of my favorite players, but now he's just a world class asshat.

Maybe he is passed all of that and just wants to live a normal non-NFL life?

His excuse was "the money wasn't right." Not, "I just want to be normal."

That's just shameful... oh ya, Bradshaw wanted money too. He was in Detroit this week, don't give me that excuse. Hell, Norm even interviewed him.

I haven't heard, but I believe he wanted the money to be a donation to a charity that he supports.
Either way, he and Bradshaw should have been there. He has been irritating me with his FOX broadcaster position, and now I won't be able to stand his goofy bald ass.

Whatever that guy has paid his dues, the NFL has more money than Bill Gates he gave the best years of his life and then some to the NFL, he owes them squat in my opinion. I think they have used him enough in the past, he has a right to demand money for his time. Just as you expect to make money for your ebay time, unless your posting stuff for free?

Mix in a period now and again, eh?
Every other MVP did it...even Bart Starr.
He's a world class douche bag.
Oh, and the NFL used Montana????? WTF are you snorting today? He made millions off of the NFL.

Montana was asking for $100,000 from the league. As if the league didn't pay him enough. If it wasn't for the league Montana wouldn't have the endorsements he has today.

I think the other was Jake Scott- an oldie from the Dolphins' 17 win year. OG, i believe. Montana can kiss my ass. He's a prick from way back, and he should be honored that the NFL even RECOGNIZES him...The youngsters already don't know who he is, so piss on him!

Well I don't know if it is true or not, but I happened to catch Stephen A. Smith talking to him on the phone about it and he had a pretty good story about how his 2 sons had basketball games and he totally denied the money thing. A good point was brought up about Bradshaw though. It was the STEELERS playing in the Super Bowl. However, the Pittsburgh fans would probably rather boo Roger Staubauch than cheer Terry Bradshaw.

Bradshaw was on Jay Leno last night............. He was asked about it. He said for one, he doesnt attend super bowls. He said he never has cause he doesnt like the crowds. The only ones he attends are the ones that Fox broadcasts. And of course thats cause he has to since they sign his checks. He said since his recent divorce, he spends all his spare time in oklahoma at his ranch. He picked up his daughter sunday morning, went to church and then took her to eat and spent the day with her. I see nothing wrong with that. Plus they keep talking about how broke he is right now, he said if it was a money iussue........... he started smiling and said that if the NFL wants to throw him money, then he will except it.
He said he called the owner of the steelers and said it was nothing personal, but he just doesnt like going to super bowls. But that he was very honered to have been invited. The owner gave him his blessings to not attend.( Not that I think he would need anybodies " blessings " not to attend. )

lol, man, rumors spread fast and everyone was quick to bash him based on hearsay. Here you go.
The NFL defended the officiating in the Super Bowl, and Joe Montana defended himself.
Meanwhile, three-time Super Bowl MVP Montana denied reports he had asked for $100,000 to appear with other past MVPs at pre-game ceremonies. He left Detroit on Friday, and returned home to attend his sons' weekend basketball games.
"I had told them both (sons) that I'd be there for their games and that we'd watch the Super Bowl together," Montana said in an interview with ESPN. Later, Montana added, "The Super Bowl is important to a lot of people but, to me, it was more important that I was home with my boys."
Two-time MVP Terry Bradshaw and Miami's Jake Scott were the only other MVP's who didn't attend. Bradshaw reportedly want to be with his family, and Scott was traveling in Australia.
Asked during the interview if an appearance fee kept him away from the game, Montana said, "Not at all. When I was playing football I missed my two girls. They're in college now and they're gone. These boys are at the age right now at 16 and 13 that I want to be around. I don't want to miss them before they're gone."

Montana wasn't there because ESPN's Suzy Kolber wouldn't give it up for him.
Joe Montana doesn't care about black people, duh.

True players do make $$$ off the NFL, but there are also players that because of the NFL when in older ages don't exactly live great lives. There was a deal on NBC i think last year talking about how several players that are considered " greats" need $$$ just to cover their medical expenses that had they not played in the NFL they wouldn't have. I can't recall any of the players names, but it was sad. They gave their lives for their perspective franchises, but now they don't get shit since they're not apart of the NFL and they're the ones that helped make it into what it is today.
