I had a 60 hunter and 60 shammy on two different servers. Beat the entire game's content twice over and got bored. I might pick it back up if the expac has new classes, but it doesn't look like it's going to.

Actually, the Blood Elves are going to Horde. They haven't officially announced the Alliance race yet.

And yeah, I've already cancelled my account once, to go back to FFXI... that lasted about a week and I remembered why I quit FFXI in the first place. Came back to WoW after a couple months to get from 40 to 51... bored with it again :-/ But not sure if I wanna just try and stick it out to 60, or just quit all together.

There is plenty of time to get lvl 60 and wait for the new "end Game" area's. lvl cap goes to 70 as well. Should take 1 month or less to do 1-60. If someone is too hard up to get lvl 60 asap the farmers will pwr-lvl 1-60 in 15days; for a price of course.

If some of you people are bored why not re-roll together on a new server and party down. At least you know you will be playing with people down the street.

1 - 60 in a month for someone just picking up the game? Not quite. You can do that after having gotten to 60 a time or two so you know exactly which quests, which instances, get in with a guild that regularly does instance runs/raids at various levels so you're never really looking for a party...

And bored = bored with the game, not bored because there's nothing left to do. I don't want to re-roll another character... to do the same shit over again. I've done it 3 times already... if I'm already bored, why would I want to go through it all again? I've got 5 friends and a family member that play on a regular basis. It's not the people I play with resulting in me being bored, it's the game itself.

No, my 60s were not 100% epic. You need to learn to read :) I said I beat all the content twice over, not that I had done every minutiae in the game and collected ever item. Running DWL or MC 50 more times before I get a piece I can use is not very entertaining.

Exactly the reasons I'm BORED with the game. Why the fuck do I want to spend countless hours/days/months running the same instances over and over and over and over and over ... ad infinitum ... in the hope that A) an epic of mine will drop, and B) that I'll beat out the other 10+ people that also need that piece, when rolling for it... when more than likely C) I won't beat out someone, and thus I'll be running the instance over and over and over... again... back to A.

Then there's the exalted status with ab/av/wsg... I'd rather gouge my own eyes out with a searing hot rusty spoon, than have to go through each BG thousands of times (yes, THOUSANDS. I've been through a few hundred AB's and only recently reached honored status... and I'm already uninterested in going any farther), especially when each queue waiting for BG takes 30 minutes to 2 hours between runs. Yeah. Awesome.

The game was fun for the first 40 levels, when you could hop in, do some quests, run an instance with some friends, craft, whatever. Just get in and have some fun. After 40 it gets progressively like EVERY other MMO, where it becomes nothing but a time sink, designed in every way to keep you wasting as much time as possible to do ONE task, and because of the rare nature of the items your hunting, you've got to do that task over and over and over. Especially when the upper level instances can take nearly half a DAY to complete. Each.

Some people are addicted enough to put up with that shit. I'm not.

AB = Arathi Basin
MMO = Massive Multiplayer Online (usually MMORPG where RPG = Role Playing Game)
BG = Battle Grounds
AV = Alterac Valley
UBRS = Upper Black Rock Spire
MC = Molten Core
BWL = Black Wing Lair

They're abbreviations of places/activities in the game (save for MMO which is more universal to all games of this sort). And "epic of mine" simply means a piece of epic gear (high level/endgame/class specific/etc) for my character class.

When you get to the mid-upper 50's through 60, about the only thing you'll be doing ad nauseum is running the various raid dungeons (raids are essentially anything larger than a single five man group/party) over and over hoping for one of your epic pieces to drop from the various bosses. Then when it drops, it's highly unlikely that you're the only one of your class in the raid, so you end up rolling (basically trying to get the highest number from 1 - 100) to see who the piece goes to. If you're not the lucky one... you get to keep doing it over and over. Raids can be up to 40 people... and if you aren't in a relatively decent sized guild with a good amount of 60's... getting into or building a 40 man raid can easily take hours, before you even get started on the dungeon/instance which will take a number of hours still. You could easily spend half a day (or more) just making one run through an instance, when combined with the time taken to assemble the raid group. That's if you're actually successful... more often than not, you'll end up wasting those hours with no results, and either give up and farm or give up and log off.

After you guys hit 60 you either have to be hard core (5-7hours a day), re-level another toon, or just quit the game.

Not fun when you get in battlegrounds and get destroyed by guys in their full tier 2 epics sets while you're in your mix of blue/green gear.

Any class can pick up any tradeskill. But it just doesn't make as much sense for a Mage to have blacksmithing when the Mage cannot use half the items he/she makes.

I fell right back into my FFXI Red Mage role when I started my Shaman. At first I tried Hunter, and Rogue, and started a Mage but didn't get very far with it.

Finally tried Shaman and immediately knew this is what I should've been doing all along. Though I find people don't bitch about Shaman's getting in and doing melee, like they've been doing the last few years on FFXI with Red Mages. I was a melee Red Mage. Taru even. Every party I got in, people initially groaned when I'd march in to melee... but after 30 - 45 minutes of solid ass kicking with no signs of slowdown with me even in the middle of meleeing still keeping up with debufs, refreshes, cures if needed (and yes, I even was the main healer for some groups, and had no problems meleeing and main healing), magic bursts, even getting in on skillchains occasionally between equipment changes as they weren't necessary for enough time to build up the necessary TP (rare, but it did occasionally happen)... I converted quite a few people from their stereotypical (and quite uninformed) view of Red Mages shouldn't melee.

I was afraid the same would be with Shaman's, as they're so much like FFXI's Red Mage's it's uncanny. It's kind of nice to not have to put up with that shit still, but at the same time, there's new shit to put up with that's just as bad in most cases. Then again, I've had a static party all the way from start to now, so maybe I just haven't been in enough "pick up" parties to get a gauge on how people react to meleeing Shaman's. I do stay as far away from the message boards as possible. I learned my lesson on that with FFXI.

But, I'm just biding my time until DDO comes out. :) Got a taste of it this weekend with the 3 day quickie open beta (unfortunately, I didn't know about it until the last day of it...). I was looking forward to it before... I'm definitely looking forward to it now.

What is the deal when you go to Kalimdor(if ur alliance) and when ppl u talk u cant read what their sayin? Since it shows their F'd up lang above their head, does alliance show english? If so, you'd think they would whisper to u to communicate.

O got a lvl 20 pally, and a lvl 10 hunter now, trial accnt sux, lvl 20 cap. :mad:

Have several toons on Windrunner, 60 Paladin, 35 hunter, 19 rogue on Alliance.
I have a Horde Undead Warrior lvl 14 and recently started an Orc Hunter and got him to lvl 29 and holding, been doing pvp in War song gulch and have 1500 + kills in about 9 days. Horde folks seem more laid back than most on Alliance, just from what I have seen. Darkwolf and the others are right when you hit 60 about being hard core to get any good gear. But I felt the same way about EQ and SWG also.

well, I did the Dead Mines instance last night and it was pretty sweet. Had two lvl 20 rogues, one lvl 41 pally, lvl 17 pally (me), and some other guy.
It was pretty sweet, but took awhile to complete.
the only thing I'm having trouble with is what to spend my talent points on.

yeah, it was fun. I hear people talking about blues alot, but i'm not quite sure what this means. when you guys say blue are you talking about the rareness of the weapon/armour?
I still have alot to learn.

green is uncommon, blue is better/more uncommon, and purples are epic, usually level 50+

[QUOTE=DarkWolf]I fell right back into my FFXI Red Mage role when I started my Shaman.

Taru even. Quick question to those who have had WoW for awhile.
About how many times a month do they shut down the servers?
I can't log in today, and couldn't log in a couple of days ago. Does this usually happen? I was hoping to get a couple Auctions going, before I went to class but I guess not.

At least once a month on Tuesdays. It's known as "Patch Tuesday", usually takes 6 - 8 hours. And after it's done, the servers are horribly laggy and prone to crashing and usually another hour or two of downtime while they fix whatever they fucked up in the patch, sometimes resulting in yet another patch (though usually if that happens, it's much smaller).

At other times during the month, if they come across something requiring a shutdown, they'll usually announce it pretty well in advance, and have a notice on the website/forums as well. It's pretty rare that they take it down more than once a month though.

It's like that with Alliance too... don't kid yourself :p

Roving bands of 60's in Ashenvale jacking the piddly 20's out questing. Taking over Splintertree Post, and jacking people as they fly in.

LOL! Good! Yeah, I ran into some horde in ashenvale, they took out the entire silverwing elf deal(gate to WSG) needless to say my lil lvl 26 ass stayed the hell away from em. Runetotem is only like 3 and a 1/2 weeks old, there only 5 lvl 60's on the server. There's like 40 other ppl at my lvl and even less than that for each rank above me.

It's every tuesday now? I could've sworn it was only once a month for planned maintenance/patching, and anything else was usually unexpected/unscheduled.

Then again, I haven't logged in in over a month, and haven't actually played for more than 2 months, and then only sparsely during the weekends... haven't logged in during the week in well over 6 months.

Back to what I was sayin earlier about MB. Yea there was a massive invasion earlier this evening. Like I said im lvl 27 and all of them had ??'s for their lvls. They had the advantage for the 1st 20 min, then people from everywhere showed up and we had ourselves a rumble royale. I'll definately have to attempt your plan you said the alliance does on the other servers.

HAHA, I am getting tons of disconnects and pings over 3000!!
I have comcast "speed" tier which is like 8down and 768k up, I've called them and had a tech come out to check my lines and I have not had any problems with it.
I've only been playing for a month and for the past week and a half the servers have been horrible!

Well if you are using Comcast it might deal with your connection. I have had issues for a few months now. They found a spike in my line but have yet to resolve it. Go figure!

Also make for sure everytime WoW patches the game you Defrag cause the patch will totally jack-up your hard drive.
