Open it up and look at the RAM. You could probably use google with the model number and find it as well.

Alternatively if you have a store bought PC, or know the specs well you can use...www.crucial.com

Put in your PC's information and it'll tell you. So far...I have not had any incorrect feedback from that site's databse.

well see... an old friend of mine built it for me boack in '01, and it was pretty fast at the time but as anything that ages it got slow.
its a amd t-bird 1.2, in an azza 366x-as motherboard(dont say it i know, azza sux ass), 256megs ddr-266, elsa gladiac511-tv out(geforce2)64 meg sdram vid card(was supposed to be a voodoo 5 but he couldnt get it to work even though it was a good one), sound blaster live value 16.....

Man, if it costs more then 50 bucks for the RAM upgrade I'd just buy a new machine.

you think so? when i say its slow its at startup, granted im running 2000 pro, thats really the only time.

My rule of thumb is to upgrade when I'd get 3x the performance of my old machine. You'll be kicking ass and taking names with a 500 dollar machine...assuming you don't game.

I went from a p3 933 to an AMD A64 2800 and very glad I did. I even just upgraded my dual p2 400 server box with a frys cheapy combo. $89 for an ecs nforce3 250gb board and a 3100 sempron.
