I'm putting together another system and was wanting some opinions on what video cards I should be lookin at for decent gaming machine.

For 300 you can get a 7800GT, evga, msi i know of have em for around 299 before rebates.

First choice would be a 7800GT and second would be a ATI X850XT. 7800GT would be around $300 as stated above and I have recently seen the X850XT for $299 - $100 rebate. The X1800XL is also a great card for around $320.
