Fuck yeah that is normal for those junky things. Why don't you go ahead and bring it to me and I will make sure you never have to use it again?

I called xbox customer support and they are going to repair it, but damn I paid a good price and then this shit happens. I should have gotten the Ps3

Realize that every system has problems at launch. It's naive to think otherwise. No system launch is perfect. The PS2 had problems from it's inception and STILL does (the slim ps2 has issues with overheating if you don't stand it vertically). Don't be suprised if the ps3 has problems as well.

I did not know that, well now I will just wait untill everyones else has problems with it and they straighten their things out before I get another system.
If you move it at all when it has a disc in it they will get scratched. Apparently the drive is so high speed the discs go into a gyro effect and try to stay where they are by bending at the edges, contacting the laser head. Read this on xboxscene.

I've had mine for about 24 hours now and it's pretty quiet, really. No issues with scratching either. I like the Media Setup on it.

NES, SNES, Genesis, Gameboy, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2. There were TONS of other systems that did not have anywhere NEAR as many problems as XBOX2 is having.

My original laptop running windows 3.1 never had any problems either, should have stuck with that! Damn you Microsoft and your cutting edge technology!!!

With more technology, comes more problems. We all know what Microsux's track record is.

The overheated issue on the slim is not fixed nor helped by just sittin it on its side. Sony just didn't make the slim's cooling system up to par for it. Additionally, not all slims have his problem. I have a slim that I leave on constantly, and it works fine.
