it is ok they don't know what a good coach is. houston get offers from all the big schools when they fire their coaches but that is because he sucks so much...lol.

texas fans are mad that if not for matt jones dumb play texas would be 0 for 3 vs nutt coached razorbacks.

I'm just plain furious...let me tell ya. I really wish Texas had made it to the Rose Bowl this year, and they would have had the Razorbacks not taken their spot!

just like the last 4 yrs that all the true texas fans started calling for brown's head cause even though he had the better teams he couldn't beat OU or win any bowl games, hell he couldn't beat a non ranked arkansas team on his own home field.

nathan you really have not a clue about football, i mean you almost know as much about football as you do on changing spark plugs on a 4.6 4v. :p

Most of the media != most true Texas fans. Maybe if you want to talk Texas football, you should do a little more than tune into "a few of the big games".

believe it or not I like texas but I don't care for vy or brown. brown can recruit but as a coach he is always behind, though he gets some credit for getting greg last year as co def cord. but most of the people I know that WENT to UT and are big fans all wanted to get rid of him and when would go to places that were for ut alums you could hear all the guys call the draw and then moan when mack would call it. this year he hasn't called it that much but then again he isn't calling the plays at all this year so maybe that is another reason texas is winning.

as for me watching only big games that is because alot of times I am watching my team getting its ass handed to them while breaking the freshmen. but next year will be a good one, I am looking at maybe 3 loses usc and lsu, and at least one other sec team.

I know I never wanted him fired. I knew he was a good coach and that the team just never reached their potential. Roy Williams was a good player skills wise, but very immature as a person and that came onto the field. Either way, thats in the past and we are talking about right now.........2 days and counting till the 'Horns bring the wood to USC.

Yeah... they ALL wanted his head

Alums were getting pissed cause they weren't winning against cross river rival OU.

That would be a nice press conference... "Well, we know he has the 2nd highest winning percentage over the past decade. We know he keeps rewriting the record for winning percentage with each consecutive class. We know he's brought Texas back to the national forefront. We know all the records and facts... but gosh darnit... he's having trouble with OU"

Please... that's all cooler talk after a loss. No big program likes to lose esp to a bitter rival. But you sure as hell don't fire a 10 win a year coach based on one game a year.

Sometimes I think people don't realize that if UT beats USC then they have the chance to quitely pull a 30+ win streak. With all the talk of USC this and USC that Texas is putting together a winning streak that most coaches will NEVER experience in D1 football.

i still don't count last year, michagan had no business playing in the rose, they aren't as good as their record says. I love watching them play but they would lose to tcu, not saying that in a bad way toward tcu, so that win could be compared to playing baylor. but mack is such a great coach how many holiday bowls has he been too and won?

well nebraska fired their coach after 2 or 3 straight winning seasons so it isn't out of the question for someone to be fired even if they are winning alot.

Yea, Mack sucks. He only has the 2nd longest winning streak in college football, has taken the Horns to two straight BCS bowls, won a BCS bowl, Won the Big 12, and is now playing for the MNC, in a span of 2 years.

Que terrible!

mack isn't calling any plays this year, hence the talent has a chance to win. if mack calls plays at all texas will lose, he can recruit like nobody else but as a coach he is sub par at best. he wouldn't even be here with out hiring greg and the other guy, I forget his name as co d cord. in fact that is the best thing brown has ever done in his stay at texas.

2 or 3 'winning' seasons is a hell of alot different than 5 straight 10 win seasons. Not to mention that 4 out of those 5 are 11 win seasons... Damn that shitty coach.

Oh... and a bowl win as a bowl win... when has it ever been considered anything but?? You take the wins and the loses equally... you can't just use the games to your advantage when it helps your arguement... Do some research... I don't think you have a clue what you are talking about with your bowl comments.

2000 Holiday Bowl L
2001 Holiday Bowl W
2002 Cotton Bowl W
2003 Holiday Bowl L
2004 Rose Bowl W

That's actually not a bad track record... but since you are stuck on the holiday bowl record as if it's the only one that matters... I'll concede that Mack is 1-2.

I went back 5 years in bowl games to coincide with his 10 win streak. Guess I should have gone back a few more to please your last major bowl win for your hogs... But just to keep things even... Damn... they only won 9 games that year.

What is even more pathetic is that you are trying to tie in a bowl loss that took place *cough* 6 YEARS AGO

Recruiting classes are simply media hype numbers. Good HS doesn't always translate to good NCAA... just as non blue chipers can end up being all americans.

Since you love your 99 season cotton bowl win I'll give you Macks record since that loss.

64-11

That's just poor isn't it??

Of course I haven't even brought in the fact that Texas plays within the same division as a top tier OU program which has had thier own amazing run...

Keep firing it up though... a 6 year old bowl win and a upset over Texas at home is just about all the Hogs have on the Horns.

Rack up 5 straight years of 10+ wins, a BCS bowl W, and a BCS title game and get back to me...

Depends on field position.

And I didn't leave your little hoggie win out.

That bowl loss didn't take place during the 5 year 10+ win streak. Should I include it just for you?? Should I just go ahead and go back to 1968 also?? How far back do I need to go so that you are pleased with how the stats fall??

Guys like you see a recruiting class number and wonder why we aren't racking up the national titles. Umm... ok... If that were the case they USC's 30+ game win streak wouldn't mean shit cause it would be happening every 3 years with teams around the country. You can't win them all. You lose games and if you play in very tight divisions and conferences then one lose is the end of your season. Hence where OU steps into the picture, and for 4 years UT just plain didn't get it done. Doesn't mean the coach sucks, doesn't mean awhole lot other than you lost.

Lets just say that UT beats USC tonight. That's 20 in a row. Say they make it back to the title game next year. That's 31 in a row.

At what point doesn Brown become a 'good' coach in your eyes?? Never just because he's at Texas?? I have a feeling that if Brown was working these stats at a school of your liking then you would have a much differnent opinion.

I don't hate texas, never have. brown will be a good coach as long as he does what he is doing now, and that is little to nothing. letting his O and D cord do their job and win the games for him. all brown needs to do is recruit and make sure the other coaches do their job.

I root for texas but I poke fun at the fans on this sites cause they are blinded by the burnt orange. and this yea I told two of my best friends that I am wanting their school to lose this game.

and it just the opinion of the alums I know but they all said that if they could have a better coach that could recruit like brown they would be on a 3 title run and not usc.
