I know he wont be the coach forever, but at least a few more years.

At age 64, the toll of another long season has Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells privately contemplating a final retirement -- even as team owner Jerry Jones is urging the coach to sign a contract extension.

Sources tell ESPN's Chris Mortensen that the death of Parcells' brother at midseason is one of the events that has triggered the coach's thoughts of retirement.

If Parcells stays in Dallas, it's because he truly likes the team he has assembled, even though his work is not complete.

The Cowboys (9-6) won a 24-20 thriller against the Carolina Panthers on Saturday and are still alive for a playoff berth.

Dallas needs to win its final regular-season game against St. Louis to have any shot at earning one of the NFC's wild-card spots.

Parcells didn't berate his team after a 35-7 loss to the Redskins last week. He figured that approach would only make things worse for a team already feeling bad enough.

"When everybody else is killing them, it would be nice if somebody tried to lift them up," Parcells said. "The week before last they were saying that it was one of the greatest wins we'd had here against Kansas City. Now, and I don't know if this type of thing happens in Charlotte, but West of the Mississippi it's either outhouse or castle."

Well I think it would be a good thing for the boys. As long as they bring in another worthy coach. He is great at finding talent and drafting young talent. He has really been nothing without his orignal coaching staff. Look at the teams he left and what kind of shape he left them in. The Jets went to the playoffs for 3 years after leaving and well we all know what the Pats. have done since his absense. As much as I hate tom brady bill was the guy to draft him. He holds this dallas team back too much. Bring on the change. I just wish he would be the GM.

If you listened to the press conference after the game you would know that report isnt true. ESPN builds a lot of things up to be either better than they are or worse than they really are. Ex USC are they the best college football team ever? Thier defence is ooohhh ranked 77 and thier offence number 2. Texas offence is number one, and thier defense is in the top 10 in the country if I am not mistaken. Then tonight they tried to compair them to the 1955 yes 1955 OU team. What is that?

I just saw an ad and ESPN will compare USC next week to the 1940 German Panzer Division, a bunch of overweight white trash moms outside of Wal-Mart the day after Thanksgiving and a tank full of pirahnas.

Also I hear they are going to debate if Pete Carroll had a month to prepare he would have beaten Hilter single handedly.

I just dont see how USC can be the best team ever with the 77th ranked defense. I was watching ESPN today, and they said USCs defense would shut down Vince Young. And USCs offense was a lot better than Texas's offense. If that is the case then why does Texas have the number one scoring offense in the country? ESPN will make up as crap as I have ever seen.
