Looks like they did exactly what everyone thought and went mostly with old guys up front. After looking at it I wouldnt expect a whole lot out of the Games from US.

i can't believe they picked lead-feet hatcher.... oh well, at least it will be entertaining to watch his blinking spasms. :D

I wish they would have left off Chelios and Hatcher. If Waddell decided he was going to keep some old legs, I don't understand why Brian Leetch wasn't one of them. I'd rather see some young kids who can skate and pass well, someone like Paul Martin...a perfect fit with Rafalski.

I was suprised Martin didnt get included on the team, he will be a good to great defenseman in the league for the next 10 years and moves the puck well, Hatcher on the other hand is easily one of the most overrated players in the league.

I guess they wanted a little more "seasoned" players out there to more or less control the tempo of the game. I'm sure alot of the other countries playing will have all the younger kids out there, thus giving us a slight advantage. Think about it, you'll have the younger players all spazzing out, while the seasoned ones on our team are just crusising around like "eh, no big deal". just my .02 cents ;)

Bucket...and the foul! I was so happy Dallas got rid of his retarded ass. Not that there were plenty of young American defensemen, but I'd have to go with speed and finesse over whatever the fuck you think Hatcher brings to the table. Sure he had a great world cup...in 1996 when America won the gold, but he's gonna be 35 in these games.
I'm adding LannyN9NE to the guys who matter when hockey talk comes up... I think that makes 4 or 5 of us now.

Haha thanks man but if you are int he DFWStangs fantasy hockey league all you have to do is see the standings. Im the Knockaround Guys
I was glad to see John Micheal Liles on there. If any of you guys have ever seen him play, him and Keith Ballard with the Coyotes are the 2 best young D men in the league...Chara is up there too, but he's not American.

Hatcher sucks. I wish it would've been his face that got rearranged by Claude Lemeuix instead of Kris Draper.

I dont agree with taking Hatcher, if they wanted old guys at least go with Leetch who can skate unlike Hatch. I don't think we have a good chance of getting a medal but I am looking forward to some good hockey and seeing some of the young americans like Liles.

JM Liles has been a good fit on the Avs since his rookie year. The wider ice helps a guy like him who can skate, he likes to drift down into the slot and can use his speed to make up ground on the breakaway. Has a nice low hard shot from the point but his passes tend to get erratic when he is pressured at the point.
As far as Draper goes, him and Maltby are a couple of little bitches who need to drop the gloves if they are going to act like pains in the ass. At least smaller guys like Steve Ott, Sean Avery, Ian Laperriere will drop the gloves when they are called out and not turtle and hack like those cowards. I'm glad Gary Roberts got Maltby to drop the gloves a week or so ago, too bad Robaerts is 40 and doesnt throw like he used to.

Laperriere publicly said before his first game against his former LA Queens this year that he'd drop the gloves with Avery for bashing French Canadians. Draper is a bitch, agreed, but he doesn't go around cross checking people (Roenick) into the boards breaking their jaw and knocking out their teeth like Hatcher does.

Maltby and Draper arent cheap like alot of guys who play the grinding style (i.e. some like Claude Lemuiex) To me that is a huge difference because they for the most part play within the rules and use the body, which every team needs players like that.

That's where you're wrong. You've got grinders like Claude Lemeuix, Kris Draper, Podien, Stephanne Yelle, etc, that play for the most part within the "rules"...then you've got guys that get paid to pick fights like Domi, Brashear, Scott Parker, Brad May, etc...that's the difference. Everyone slips, like Claude (because I hate his last name, he's just Claude), like Adam Foote, like Owen Nolan, like a lot of goalies...but its people who slip for a career that give "grinders" bad names.

My point was for those two specifically. I was just saying after watching them for a long time I cant off the top of my head think of a time either Maltby or Draper crossed the line completely.

I can't see Maltby crossing the line, but I could definitely see Draper doing it. I'm sure he has before. BTW, in case I haven't mentioned it before. I fucking hate the Red Wings.

I'd be in 3rd had I not fell short of the 3 game goalie limit last week against you. If I ever get my goalie situation fixed i'm going to be giving Lanny a run for that top spot.

That you might, youve built a good roster, its going to be close this week after looking through what happened tonight

I'm the ultimate curse though. I keep having guys on the IR. Miller goes on the IR and loses his starting job. Kovalev having a good year, gets hurt, goes on IR, I dropped him (luckily no one picked him up), got him back tonight. I get Nash back at LW, and Tkachuk at LW goes down. It sucks I had so much talent at LW and C that I finally just had to drop Frolov and Conroy instead of getting something in return. Now if I can stop being so indecisive with defenseman and RW, i'll be ok. Still kicking myself for dropping Knuble though.

Does anyone actually play hockey? Besides me?

I use to play in a rec league. Now I play pickup roller when I can. Would like to get out for some pickup ice in the near future. Really don't have the time to play in leagues anymore.

I am on a goalie websites fantasy league.... Im in 3rd myself so far as well... it sucks. I play goal here in Plano/Frisco.... I tore my ACL in Sept, and just had it repaired thru surgery 2 weeks ago so I should be playing agian in about 5 months. uggh ! If yall want some free ice time, I heard that down at fair park from 7-8 on Tuesdays or Thursdays its a free hour of pick up.... only thing is dont bring your nice cars... chances are it will get broken into ! When I first started playing, it was when the Dallas Freeze was here. I was 13 I think and I practiced with them and it was great. When I left my dad was pissed because someone broke into his truck.... but when the cops came, it wasnt just us, it was 7 other cars and trucks. F'n Thieves !
Anywho back to the Team announcement, I think they called a good team, I would have left out Hatcher, Im also glad they didnt get Roenick as well. Both of them are some bitches. I hope Turco and Cujo get to go to the Olympics, I cant stand Broduers ass, he is just sooo boring to watch. I would be happy with either of the two to play, but I doubt Cujo will get a shot with Gretzky out and the coach doesnt like him.... Loungo or Turco will probably be backing them up. Rob

To me a "grinder" is someone like Martin LaPointe/Darren McCarty/Ian LaPerriere not a speed guy who plays decent defense and takes cheap shots i.e. when the refs are there and the play is over, give a facewash...thats just retarded. Darcy Tucker is a good example of a guy who is a little over the top. He has decent 2nd line skill if he'll ever stop submarineing guys 12 seconds after they get rid of the puck. While I agree he played "under the rules" as no one else had touched the puck yet (Peca hit) it's still kind of....eh.

To a point yes, a perfect example of a grinder would be someone like McCarty. Back with the cheap shots tho, i still cant think off of the top of my head when they actually took cheap shots at people, not saying it hasnt happen just saying i dont recall it. As far as Tucker, he has always been known as someone who will throw cheap shots, the Peca one, he did it in the Ottawa series the same year. He is more of a Dale Hunter than anything.
