I know this sounds stupid but I dont know how to eat..(correctly)
right now im 6'3 220lbs.I want to loose the ole belly before summer and gain some muscle size also.Pblm is that i dont know how to eat right.
I see where people have a cup of rice, piece of chicken, half cup of oatmeal,ect..for a meal. There is no way that would fill me up.
Not only that but theres only so much plain chicken you can have....
Are stews, pot roasts, ect good to eat or are they crap??
Also what is yalls take on drinking tea?? I can cut back on the cokes but water just has no taste for me...

Deciding to eat healthy is a total lifestyle change. You can't just jump off into the deep end, but maybe pick one or two days you can eat whatever you want for dinner and desert(usually when you're most active befor). Water is definently an accuired taste. Go w/ out sodas for a month or two and I'll be suprised if you can finish a whole can though! Slowly start eating healthy. You have to force yourself deal w/ eating less. There's lot's of good nutritional books out there that have good flavorful healthy recipes.

First things first:
If you're not 100% devoted to losing weight, you'll lose everytime. You have to be in a mindset to do it and not give up. If I had to guess, 99% of the reason people do not maintain a steady weight loss, is because they give up.
I wouldn't say cut out your carbs all together but at night, dont eat as much bread or your pastas (I know, something EVERYONE likes). Meats are not bad for you at all. If you can, try to include some form of meat in your breakfast. Your metabolism is just getting started in the morning and drinking water will help, and if you can, eat sausage, bacon, ham, etc.......something like that, try to include in your breakfast. It doesnt really matter how much bread you eat in the mornings (To an extent) because your body will burn it off during the day. ALso when you eat, dont eat until you're full. IF you can DO NOT eat after about 7pm. Some people say 6pm some say 8pm, but anywhere around 7pm is good. Late night snacks are the worse. The go basically straight to fat........It's also better to eat 5 small meals a day rather than 3 big ones. If you're just trying to lose the belly fat, do cardio........(walk, run, bike, etc) and maybe cut out beer if you drink. I doubt you'll cut it out if you do drink, lol, but I guess just try not to drink as much and if you do, drink LITE beer or that Michelob Ultra.......

Wally World has a shitload of flavored waters that are like $0.50 for a liter. They also come in 20 oz bottles that are a little cheaper. They're pretty damn good. Plus, there's no sugar, calories, sodium, or anything else.
Unfortunately, for the first couple of weeks, you eating correctly will not fill you up. That's just the way starting a diet goes. Eventually though, your body will get used to taking in less calories and you'll get full quicker. It's basically just toughing it out.
I pretty much eat what I did before, but if there is a low fat, or fat free alternative, I spend a little extra and get that. I'm not overly concerned with ripped abs right now until it gets closer to late spring and summer. I just work out 5-6 times a week for about an hour a day, don't pig out, and I'm seeing pretty damn good results.

99% of the reason I always put the weight back on is that food tastes so good. :o

I eat like a cow and I lose weight.
It's all about quality, not necessarily quantity...to a degree.

Ive seen those flavored waters but never tried them...What about tea??
I drink it either way-sweetened or unsweet...
If its sweet i use either splenda or sweet&low...
I've just started running so hopefully in a month or two i'll be able to run 3-4mls non stop and that will help im sure.

Tea is good too......
I'd say if you drink tea, dont use sugar use splenda, and if you use splenda use de-caf.
I personally drink de-caf without sugar.
Those bottled waters from Wal-Mart are good......the only bad thing is they have carbonation. I prefer the Peach and that black cherry/etc one. The banana/strawberry aint bad but a little sweet tasting to me...
I guess just buy one of each and taste them until you find a couple you life. They are only .50 cents for a 1 liter, like said before...

And artificial sweeteners. To me a diet soda tastes better so I might just as well go with them as sodium is of no concern.
You can start on a diet that fill you just like your regular diet. By switching to healthier ingredients you will still be able to eat just as much and lose weight. At breakfast eat that bowl of oatmeal, that will satisfy your appetite a little and that way you eat less of the stuff that is bad for you. Select whole grains (pay attention to the fibre context as "whole grain" doesn't mean much today), eat vegetables as much as you can.
Grave for sweets? Down a large protein shake before you start with the milk and cookies. That way you will end up eating much less of those cookies. Little things like this will make a difference and later on you can improve from there even further. Trying to do too much in too little time will just make you give up and that's why a good diet is a permanent change in the way you eat, not a short starving period.

Shit, I just deleted my post. Here the cliff notes version.
Lost 60 pds. in say the last 10 months.
I'm 6' tall, went from 230 to 170 and I got a little more to lose.
Start off slow. I couldn't just cut cokes so I cut down. I drank unsweeten tea and water. It grows on you and you begin to wonder how you drank that sugary crap all the time.
Ate heathy, and everybody knows what that is. No greasy fried foods; Mcdonalds and the like. Start looking a the nutrition labels on the stuff you eat.
Quit eating white bread, switch to wheat. Mustard instead of mayo. Stuff like this go a long way.
Being fit and lean for the first time in my life. It's awesome.

I have trouble if I try to 'gradually' change into a diet, or anything for that matter.
2 weeks ago I stopped drinking sodas (diet and regular), stopped eating sweets, stopped eating after 7pm (no carbs after 3pm), and started doing at least 30mins of cardio 5 days per week, if not more. I did it all cold turkey and that's what works best for me.
I noticed that I was hungrier than usual because I was eating less...but it only lasted the first week.
Now I always feel satisfied. I am eating 3 meals a day with a snack in between meals consisting of something with low calories, no carbs and overall 'healthy'.
I've lost 6 pounds and my legs are getting shredded from all of the cardio..so I've probably lost some fat and added some muscle. I'm planning to lose all of my weight first, then build muscle after I've lowered my bodyfat.
For meals I've been eating a lot of grilled chicken breast, steamed broccolli, carrots, tuna, oatmeal, egg whites, and whole wheat toast (in the AM only).
Water, skim milk, and unsweet tea with sweet-n-low has been my beverage selection.
I used to drink 2+ 20oz Big Reds per day... I honestly don't crave them anymore. The only thing I've been craving lately is a damn slice of pumpkin pie! :D
