This week I knew I was going to have a ton of shit to do every day so I started getting off my ass and getting to the gym at 6:30am. It's the first time in close to two years I've worked out in the morning and damn I've been doing it all wrong. All day long I seem to have more energy and stay in a better mood than usual. Does anyone else work out in the AM for the same reason?

I have done it, and I agree that it wakes you up and gets you going. Its just tough to get out of bed :o

I was going to start a couple weeks ago but I continued to sleep until 30 minutes before work time and just kept working out in the afternoons. I do remember when I did work out in the morning and yes, you're right......except about the better mood, I was still an asshole.

I can NOT manage to make myself get out of bed. Every day I set my alarm for 4:45 and every morning I wake up and re-set it for 7:00. I suck!

I don't do it for the same reasons, but I love working out in the morning. Not much better than working out to a sunrise.

When I was going hardcore I was doing cardio every morning and weights every evening. You're right, you feel a lot better during the day. The problem is that you also have to go to bed much earlier.

I tried lifting early in the morning and it sucked. It took me too long to get my muscles warmed up.

I don't know about that, I usually work out in the morning MWF around 9am and afterwards I eat and then go to class. Let me just say if it wasn't for adderall, I'd probably be falling asleep in all my classes because eating after I workout makes me real sleepy again :o

I'm thinking about working out in the mornings myself. Seems like I have too much going on after work lately and my workouts have been inconsistant.

5am on weekdays baby....you'll be wide awake after putting down a couple of miles on the treadmill.

I use to hit the gym by 4:30AM and I was deffinately working out harder, could lift more and felt more energy all day. I'd run out of gas around 7-8pm though.

I've read in a couple of studies that working out in the AM can be up to 300% more effective than after a full day of work and stress.

I've also read working out at night can aleviate the stress and you keep burning calories while you sleep.

I think as long as you get it done, it's all good!

Man, I tell you that after a few weeks of doing this AM workout there have been some considerable changes taking place. My body fat seems to be falling off and my strenght is staying the same although my diet hasn't changed. I've always heard that cardio in the AM on an empty stomach is the best time to do it but I guess lifting will yield some of the same results. :D

I don't have a problem waking up early to do it. But those first few cups of coffee sure are good, and by the time I'm done with that, it's time to start getting ready for work...

Probably not something you want to put in a sports bottle either!!! :D

that's great! well, I slept through my 5am alarm this morning. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get up. I didn't have anything else to do tonight anyway, so I'll go up to 24hour for a couple of hours.
