View Full Version : Making some progress...

Went to Redline Saturday night... figured out my stumbling problem I believe. JamesB found that the tire was rubbing on some wires in the fender when the car would come down on the suspension and
caused them to short out to the chassis. I also made some other minor adjustments which may have fixed the misfiring including new plug wires, resetting rotor phasing, and turning the FAST
correction off.

The car goes nice and straight thanks to JamesB's chassis and suspension work... it drives like a cadillac!

I shortshifted by 1200-1500 rpm... 10 psi, no timing (22 degrees with 118 octane fuel and 50 degree ACTs), wimpy launch (4600 rpm, 7-8 psi) and let off the gas between the MPH and ET cone.

60': 1.361
330': 3.6917
1/8: 5.598
MPH: 129.87

I think it's got .40's in it (maybe even a .30) at the current boost level with more RPM and timing. The MPH shows some potential anyway.

My car would do funny stuff when I tried to use the FAST correction. Studdering, popping, etc... I ended up just turning it off and doing tweaking via the datalog.

that all sounds just like andrews problem. How old is your box? Andrew has an older unit but has it upgraded.

Funny enough, I had problems because the wiring was redone... I just didn't locate it high enough in the fenderwell. That's what I get... lol

Mine doesn't studder or pop, but it throws a nice flame out each pipe on the 1-2 shift and 2-3 shift... :D

Mine is about as old as they come. If they made one in 1991 this is it! LOL

Its never been upgraded or anything. It would do some wacky shit driving down the highway with the correction on...up and down on the A/F ratio always hunting. It would go way up and way down. I could turn it off and it would be rock steady on the AF. During a run it would sink the A/F really low sometimes and then come back up. It was something I just didn't really want to risk so I just kept it turned off.

That's great, good luck on pushing it further. What is the boost potential of your set-up. No secrets now

I don't know... how much boost will that turbo make? 35 psi? 40?

Andrew, are you going to K-Dale this Friday? Can't wait to see what 18 or so psi will do! I bet that 5.59 felt slow in that chassis with the big W tires huh? I mean slow compared to a 10" tire car yanking the front end off the ground like your old combo did. :)

It was pretty docile. I didn't launch too hard or anything, and that JamesB suspension made it ride like a cadillac!
