Might be Richard Pederson but can't remember his number....

Steeda 05 better bring it or he is going to get left behind!!! :D

The 05's are good cars but the car is only 13.2% of the performance....the rest is the driver. I have lapped $130k porsches in a 20 minute session and passed vipers and vettes all the time. It comes down to balls and skills....not much more.

i can remember his name. I was helping him roll his finder the other day after i saw that he cut the other lip off with a hacksaw. lol Maybe number 7 i can remember. He said he runs in a muscle car class.
Nice guy, the car has cobra r's for rims.

We saw the car....it used to be a rally car believe it or not with a 2.5" diameter tube cage! Car needs a lot of work to really be safe on track....It's a 20 year old race....which makes it older than the kid driving the car!! I want to say the marshals had sent them packing because the car had some serious issues. It may or may not be the same car but this one had 4 "rally" lights on the grill???

Overall, great weekend. Weather was perfect but I was rusty as it has been since January since I ran on that track. My previous best on hoosiers and the stock front end was a 1:24.9-1:25.5 taken by stop watch from video. The hoosiers alone are said to be worth 2 full seconds over the RA1's so...I finally whittled my best time down to a 1:24.018 on the RA1's which are T-O-A-S-T!!! There is still some life left in them for maybe a session or two but new shoes are in order for the slut.

My goal for the weekend was to make up for the 2 seconds that the Hoosiers are worth over the RA1's and more so the goal was to get into the 23's.....damn I was close!!! .02 seconds....If I am not mistaken that would have put me as the #2 qualifier for American Iron. Winter will bring even more weight loss, new power and a few tweaks on the car for some aero work. I am hoping to step up and attempt to be competitive next year but there is going to be steep learning curve!!!

and for all of you that didn't show....you missed a good time. The AI CMC races were damn good with a lot of close action.

Yea, thats it. The kid just started racing. The dad was the original driver. That sucks, i was hoping they did well. Nice guys.

He told me it weights like 2800lbs and i said so does mine parked next to it. :D He didnt believe me at first.

I know the guy was proud of the car but he needs to step back, take the list he was given by the instructors and rethink what he wants to do with the car. It could be fixed up but he needs to be methodical about.

His kid needs to attempt to listen better but the impression I got was that his dad might have been forcing it on him or he just didn't want to listen to him....or the instructors for that matter. I realize he is young but when NONE of the instructors want to ride with him, there needs to be a "fatherly" directive.

I guess the other thing that was cool was I got to try my hand at instructing today! It was pretty cool and I guess I did a good job because the student asked for me in his next session. He was driving a 944 turbo with a cage and making about 10lbs of boost. It was a fun little car that handled great for street tires.

anyway. I am beat and need to get some sleep. two nights in a tent that is too short on a leaking air mattress has taken it's toll on me.... :o

Which one? the stocker or the rigged up one? It apparently worked because the car began to push pretty bad and the rear was glued to the track. I started playing with camber and air pressures and got it to where I liked it.

I am going to try and finalize the VT deal today and ship the motor out on monday... I am also going to source the tubing bender soon and start finishing the cage. Time to nut up!

As always, if you need any help let me know. I'm referring to the fabbed up one. I know I can make a tool that will allow me to bend a piece of aluminum that's pre-bent at the angle you're using. I just need something to compare the contour of the trunk lid with. X, Y, and Z axis, not just the X axis with your cardboard template idea.

I don't know if you want this thing....? I looked at the griggs unit on David Armstrong's car and it was at half the angle mine is at. I can walk you through how I got the contour of the lid if you want....give me a call on my cell and I will attempt to describe it to you. There were 7 other people that asked me the same question this weekend and when I told them they were like "holy shit" that makes it so much easier!

Matt, how did you enjoy Time Trials?
I don't think you have the TTU record for MSR, but it has be 2nd.

Kevin, the guy driving the '69 Firebird this past weekend, blistered the track in March with a 1:21:xxx in his '99 Firehawk.

There was a SC Lingenfelter C5 there in March that ran in the 1:25s as I recall, but just barely ....

So, it's confirmed ... you are going to AI next year, correct?

you know an instructor, george abdalla out there? buddy of mine used to work with him. he's getting a day setup that we can go run my car around the track w/minimal traffic.

Oh, I don't mind not setting the record and kevin's car had better set the record with 315's on all corners and 500hp!!! I enjoyed the time trials but didn't pick up the medal for Sunday. One thing that might be good for that group is to start selling it more in the DE classroom sessions. Only issue is that some folks are probably scared to risk the car in a "timed" event in the event of a wreck and insurance.

AI is a yes. Cage materials and tubing bender have been ordered, new front koni's and some stiffer springs and better subframe connectors will be here next week. The big news is that I have worked out a sponsorship/deep discount deal with VT Engines for a new motor to get me up to the AI limit on power/weight ratio. Motor should be done by the end of the year and hopefully so shall the car. I am taking some vacation time over Xmas to get all the work done and that will give me the entire month of January to shake down the car and get ready for Houston in early february. I won't be nearly as fast as JG but I am certainly going to give some folks a run for second place. Once I get comfortable in traffic and the traffic gets comfortable with me...I hope to start qualifying well.....I would have qualified second in AI this weekend!!!

The sad part is that just when I thought I was close to being done I go and spend another $5k on crap for the car.... :o Oh well, now I won't be so motivated to sell it I guess.....

Mitch, congrats on your first win too!!!! Bout' time someone else steps up. That would make what 6 different winners this year in CMC??

I am headed down the MSR Houston in a couple weeks for the SVT DE down there as an instructor. Are you going too? Be nice to get some track time on a track the other guys won't see till Feb!!!!

Well, I am sure I will be hitting you up for some work with that plasma cutter soon. I just locked in on a new fiberglass front nose similar to the black cobra next to me this last weekend and I will be installing it this weekend. gonna be another rattle can job but it will atleast be the same color. Time to buy some DZues fasteners or workout some nut plates and bolts to hold it on.

I guess I need to sit down with the wife tonight and explain the plan because when all this shit starts showing up she is going to thing I am selling sperm to pay for it or something!!! :o

It's a valid point about discussing TT in the DE classrooms ... I'll discuss that with Kevin and Ari and see if we can't get something going ...

Deanna will mail you gold medal to you ... hang it from your mirror ... ;)

December 3/4 It's an SVT Houston DE event. There is a post here in the racing forum from about 2-3 weeks ago....has all the details.

Hey aggie, does MSR have affordable lapping sessions ? i'm not confident enough to race with other people.

And that MSR event in houston, is that the Open day thingy in december ?

also, here's a video of prelude guy that was MSR last weekend.

Matt, you can't let Kevin beat you that bad ... it's just an F-Body ...

Ryan ... how ya doin', man! Long time ...
It was a win ... everything just kind of fell my way and I was able to take advantage of traffic and other people's misfortune. I still have a lot of car that I'm leaving on the track.

Andy Menard invited me to the SVT thing in December, but I just don't think I will be able to make it ...

Yes, I saw him but never spoke with him. I think I spoke with his family Friday night and heard their plans to show up next year....kind of bringing a sledge hammer to a fly shoot but hey, to each their own.

BPU, yes, there are decent cost track days out at MSR. Your cheapest shot is to find someone with a membership and get them to take you out there as a guest....or just do a one day session with the NASA HPDE for $125, or the two day for $200. Cheapest deal in town with a decent amount of track time.

Mitch, given he is running a full second faster than JG...I would say that car is fast. But, as everyone said, it's time to quit the TT stuff and step up. You should make it to the event in December. My car is going to be markedly updated and I will have the new motor together by the end of the year....I hope. Mostly depends on the machine work.

Either way, I MUST keep the wife in the dark on this venture....I have spent more in the last couple days than some folks have invested in the entire CMC car!!! Get ready AI, here I come!!!
