And in with the new, The SS is getting a new transplant with in the next feaw days. Curious as to how long the 4 speed will hold up, I miss having a "Street Car" these days. Its been almost a year since the Nova was gone and boy do I regret selling that car. I cant wait to feel some real power while enjoying the (daily driver) effect. Plan on making alot of power on pump gas. Most people give me a hard time cause it's always N/A power with alot of compression.

We need to make a Sunday GTG at Kellers again, that was cool when we did it those couple of times. We dont need to make it an every Sunday thing though, maybe like once a month or every other weekend. We had a pretty good turn out when we had it.

PERFORMER & PERFORMER RPM

These oval port heads will support over 540 hp with 9.5:1 compression when used as part of the Total Power Package
Unique oval intake port shape produces flow similar to rectangular ports, but the smaller port size provides excellent seat-of-the-pants performance and crisp throttle response
Semi-open chamber design maximizes efficiency with streetable compression ratios
Smaller-than-stock 11/32" valve stems promote excellent flow and lighter valve weight

It says 540 horsepower but thats with a little hydro tappet cam........since when have I ever roamed the streets in anything but a solid roller? :D

Going with a big block, eh? :D

I'm not a chevy guy but from what i've read many don't understand the potential in the oval port heads and go for the rectangular ports; in many cases losing velocity and power.

I think you should do a 383 with a nice set of darts that have been worked on to flow good #'s. Ported victor jr to match the heads with a 1 inch spacer and a 850cfm carb. About 12.5:1 comp. A nice .600's lift solid roller with some good street manners. That would prolly run a 6.

383s work good for street cars ---that's what I would put in it too -- then hit it with a 300 shot!!

People seem to forget its not a race car...........hence the 10:1 compression I will have. Not to mention the fact that it will never go down the track. Just a dyno queen. You people and your 383's can keep them, I went 7.00's with a stock stroke 400 and was only 11:1. The cam was a .580 solid roller, nothing big. I am not trying to run as fast as I can, nore am I after the ET. Just want alot of power on pump gas.

I am to busy to work on cars at the moment Reid, it will be ready on Monday! :D

Going to convert it over to the strut style suspension, the coil springs are junk on the car. They already have spacers in them. :o

Somebody save this "it will never go down the track" so we can quote you on it in about a year. You may be done now but the itch will soon be back. Fast street cars now a' days belong at the track. Congrats on the purchase!

The closes thing to a track that car will see is when I go to the races to watch. :p
Right it down, take a picture and watch. Its to clean to go down a sticky race track, I dont wanna bend it like the poor old nova looked!

I'm the one trying to go as fast as I can........

And by the end of this month, the Che'Stang will be seeing some 5's....

Someone is going to get bumped on the Fastest 1/8 list !!!

That 6.47, is that on motor or spray? You running a sbc or bbc? Just curious, I have an 408 sbc that went a couple of 6.20's but mostly .30's n/a in a 2700# truck sitting in my shop.

It was a 200 plate shot.....

And that's was all them old Hyper's could take.....

Learn for the mistakes you make.... and I did, I just got caught up in building the
car and not the engine......

So, I'm leaving here soon to head for N.C., picking up the new powerplant, and still building one for a spare....

OrangeChevyII

So I assume that it was a sbc correct? Them #6 cylinders are hell on spray.

They have the spacers? Shit, they have already been upgraded then. :D I am running 9:71-10:1 (some where in that range) compressionwith my sbc. I'd like to see the car in person when you get it out and a about.

Yes that was me, it will be around 10 days before I get it going again. I took the motor out today and steam cleaned the whole under carrage of the car. I am going to pain underneath and put the new motor in at the end of the week. I am going to a place out side Terrel this week to pick up a 4 core alluminium radiator and a over flow jug for the new motor. I dropped the carb of on Sat and the last I heard its going to be in the 600+ range. Will see, it's a Ls6 big block 454 with the Edelbrock alluminium heads with a solid roller in the .700 range. Good part is its going to be a pump gas motor!

Thanx for the compliment G McCall, I'll see you around town soon!

Pump gas friendly.............. :D You will be spending a lot of time at the pumps. :D But it will run with that combo, can't go wrong with a big block. Beats the hell out of my 269 hp :(

LOL, that's a contradiction in terms.....and not on pump gas! Well, maybe if you are pumping it from a barrel !!

Orangy (You'll always be Orangy so deal with it).....I thought you were against big blocks? Good decision though, although a daily driver it won't be...Can't wait to see it. Next time I'm in town I'll drop on by the shop.

I dunno if the motor is efficient it would run it on pump gas. I know my motorcycle has more compression then that and it has no probs. Maybe thats different though I dunno.

I wont be able to afford to drive it every day....... Its a weekend and pretty day car. My hands are freakin sore from sanding all the paint off the bottom of this car. Never ever again will I attempt this $hit again.
