I have my A&P I was wondering if anybody is hiring out there. I work at a repair station and would rather actualy get to touch an airplane. I heard that Southwest is supposed to be hiring. Anybody know anything about that. I live in greenville but wouldn't mind the drive to dallas if the pay was right.

I don't know if Southwest is hiring but I have heard that a junior mechanic only starts out at $12 to $13 bucks an hour.

Do you have any experience? Where did you get your training? Any avionics traing?

It depends where you start. ;) If you can get on with a major airline you can expect the $18-19hr range on the very low end all the way up to $24-25hr. on the high end for a junior mechanic with the right company.

I have been working at L-3 in greenville for a bit more then 6 months (started in april). No i don't have any avionics traing. I do have 18weeks of electrical training at spartan (35hr weeks)

Try contract companies like Global, sharp etc. Southwest is hard to get into I have been Trying for years after getting laid off from Delta. Just get your resume and send them off even if they are not posting positions they still look at resumes.

The job market sucks right now for A&P's :(

I work at AAC at love field good luck!

Don't expect to make big bucks right out of A&P school, unless you get on with an airline, you can make good money contracting but it's not stable.

What is the pay rate for gulfstream. Will they hire people with little experience?

Go apply at Raytheon Aircraft Services @ Love Field. They are currently hiring.

Since you have your A&P BJC next to Raytheon is looking for people as well.

Is anything going on at Addison Airport these days? There used to be a large corporate presence there and plenty of activity.

Southwest has always been top of the industry in our area. If you were lucky enough to get on with them you pretty much had it made thru retirement.

I have been out of the aviation scene for awhile. I spent several years at AAC @ Love Field in the SM department as a lead. Lots of mandatory OT for months at a time.

Regrettably, I am glad I am no longer in that field. Good luck
