I've finally decided to drop a few pounds, but I've never really worked out in my life. In highschool I was very active playing sports and cycling, so I never really got into a workout routine more than going to practice. Then slowly in the past ten years I have put on about 60 extra pounds, especially around the mid section. I do have poor eating habits, not junk food or eating out all the time, but I might eat 1-2 meals a day, my first usuallt about 6-7 hours after I wake up. Another thing that is not helping me is the 2-3 beers I usually enjoy after work. I do not have a bad habit of eating before dinner, but I guess the alcohol is taking its place. I can have access to my dad's company gym for $12 a month, but I know if I walked in there with the best intentions in the world, I would have no idea what to do. How much weight? How many reps? What kind and what order to do the exercises in are all questions that would come to my mind. I want to get this started now, as I am not getting any younger, and I realize that every day that passes makes it more difficult.
How would you suggest I start? Exercise first? Diet first? Both at the same time? Right now I wear my weight well, but it would be nice to fit into my 33s again (that's about 9" I need to trim away).

For some reason this sounds like a respost. :)
Just go to the gym. They have people there that will get you started. That's what they're paid to do. It's really hard to say what weight to do when we can't see how much weight you can do. 2-3 beers a day for you isn't any less healthy than 2-3 soft drinks.
My advice is to just start being active first. You can do this by going from cardio machine to cardio machine. Get your body used to excercising. Maybe spend 10-15 minutes per station, don't work too hard. Do maybe the excercise bike for a bit, then walk on the treadmill, then maybe the elliptical. Just get your body used to moving.

I'm not going to try and give you too much advice but will tell you that you need to work on your diet. 1-2 meals per day is NOT healthy at all. It is better to eat all day long (responsibly) than to just stuff yourself in 1 or 2 sittings. What does your diet consist of now? How often are you eating fast food? What type of foods do you eat at home? If you drink a lot of softdrinks, try and cut those down to a minimum. Water rocks, zero calories.

I have not had fast food in months, but I will usually eat some pasta, maybe a sandwich, sometimes I catch dinner with my parents. I might have a soda once a week. The gym I have access to does not have personal trainers, it's a company gym.

Try to determine how many calories you take in a day. It almost sounds like you are barely eating. You should really try and spread out smaller meals throughout the day and get lots of cardio.

Yeah, you don't have to. But additional muscle is always nice as it will increase your metabolism making it easier to lose fat weight.

Yesterday I had about 1/2 cup of pasta salad for lunch, and 3 small slices of pizza for dinner, followed by a 6 pack of Miller Lite. The reason why I probably don't eat much is that I am a restaurant manager. I can get free food at work, I'm just tired of eating it. The crack idea ran through my mind, but I value sleep too much to start a good habit. I would love to be able to afford to go to fat camp. Think about all the low self esteem women that I would meet!!! :p
haha yeah you get both sides of the coin, fat women and bad ass women.
mmmm there's some talent

I'm no dietician but that sounds like the majority of your meals consisted of high carbs. I wouldn't think you'd want a high carb diet if you're trying to lose weight. I would try and eat more lean protein type foods. ie: chicken, steak, etc.

Yeah pizza and beer on a regular basis is not your friend when it comes to losing
