Trey forgot to shift to low after the burnin!
took off in high gear with a glide off the footbrake.
Pulled the wheels off the ground and did a 1.4060'
ran a 6.23 never using low,, all this with 3.73 gears.
next run, used low, ran a 6.2, 1.47 60

wonder how a looser converter would work like that, AND, how long it would last?

I bought this block and crank off turbostng, it's a roller 351 block and a stock roller crank. I put eagle h-beams and trw domed pistons in it. 165@ seat and 500 open springs on a crane 7000 rpm hyd roller with the twr heads. It wants more rpm than we are running it at but with 3.73 gears it won't launch as good with the glide. I'm going to 4.10 gears. the old motor with a crane 2031 couldn't run much timing because of the low rpm cyl pressure, this motor has more lift and duration so it has less cyl pressure down low, we are working the timing up a little at a time. Today we got it up to 30 total locked. I have a computer timing box going in too.The motor really liked the advance, picked up 2 mph and .12. We are giving it more till the times drop off.

Yup.. I thought that block looked familiar
I'd be careful with the 2nd gear thing - I've seen a couple of motors wiped out because the converter swells and takes out the thrust.
If it's going faster or as fast taking off in 2nd gear - it seems like the car would benifit from a numerically lower rear end gear or a tighter converter. or both.
- either way it was running good today!
