No matter what i use to burn , nero or media player , it won't complete a cd for nothing. Burns maybe half a song and comes up with an error, ive already slowed the write speed down and it continues. Any ideas whats wrong with the thing.

make sure you arent screwing around with other stuff while you're buring, its probably a buffer error?


try different modes, like track at once, disc at once? the good news is burners are dirt cheap now, so if yours is OLD school, might not be a bad idea to get a new one?

The burner isnt really old and ive never had problems up untill recently with it, its a 4x4x32, and the error is sayin that i need to slow down the burn speed which i did and it still continues to say slow it down, could it just need a good cleaning ?

Ya. Try using a cleaner disc. 4x4x32 sounds REALLY old. You sure it sin't like a DVD burner or some shit. Make sure you aren't doing nothing in the background: ie downloading, surfing the interweb, aim.

you already tried burning at 1x? its painful to wath but it might work... you can always go pick one up from frys for 10-20 bucks. before you do that i'd reinstall nero or something, who knows

Its a Acer CDRW and nah im not doing anything in the background, and i keep the screen saver from poppin on durin the burn also, guess ill check out the cleaner first , and replace the burner 2nd, mind u for the reinstallin nero, it burned up till 2 songs left and every song skips, media player is the one that wont burn past two songs.

just get a 52x burner. they are like 50 bucks and it will only take like 5 mins to burn.

4x4x32 cdrw is in the neighborhood of 6 - 8 years old. I know I picked up a 4x2x32 cdrw not too long after they first came out, when I was working at IMS... in 1998.
