Just recently becoming more interested in motorcycles like half of the world's population, and was wanting some imput. I am looking for a 600 because im such a little guy, and i was looking at an r6, a CBR 600rr, or a GSXr 600. Any advantages or disadvantages for a first time rider on any of these bikes? Which one owuld be best suited for someone with a small frame like me?

And advice would be greatly appreciated.

They are all stupid fast. The new 06's are some of the nicest looking machines to date. I love the new R6, but the gixxer is probably the choice of many here. They are the most popular. I believe the have the lowest seat height if you are short like me. I also love the Kawi 636. Here is my ranking of the new 6's although I won't be stepping down from my 1000.

R6 17.5K RPM Redline. Wow
Gixxer (new design and lowest seat height)

I would not buy a new bike for your first bike, get like a 99-01 600 because you will drop it.

ps remind me to punch you in the face the next time I see you.

You probably want to go visit a few dealerships an sit on a few bikes and see how things "feel" when you are on the bike.

Things I noticed. The GSXR tank felt wider for me. CBR had me hanging over the tank. R6 felt just right ;) Take the MSF Course and always wear your gear!

yes, the course and the gear are an obvious for me, i would never ride without gear. I guess youre right, i sat on craizies r6 it felt pretty good. I just need to try out a couple more i guess. i think what would help would be to take the course first, THEN go sit on sime bikes and see how i wanna feel while i ride it.

Im with Jose. Just go sit on the bikes to see what you like. I like the R6 the most out of all of the 600cc bikes. My first was a 2003 R6 and it was great. All of the bikes are plenty fast and will keep you happy for a long time. You just have to buy what is priced right, what looks good and what feels right

You should probably look into an older R6 or Honda CBR F4i. Should be able to find them fairly cheap(er).

me and tulu were racing and he did a tank slapper that slightly bent his forks, so he went to garagemahal (SP?) and on his was he laid it down, the frame slider took 99% of the dmg, the only other thing that got hurt was the left side engine cover and his helmet.

But neil i say just get what ever is most comfortable being new you wont be able to push the bike to its limits for a while, and they are all pretty close in performance.

i love my R6 but the seat slants down a little to far and i find my self sliding down and onto by ball sack, which will go numb over long trips if i cant adjust my self at a light. like if im taking a high way trip, some times it sucks.

i sat on a bunch of bikes when i baught mine. i have a 04 r6 and love it. I'm a short guy small frame. but like the post that was just stated. kinda hard on the nuts on long trips on the r6. i can do 3-4 hour straight and im done.

dont get an 04+ R1 then if the R6 hurts your nuts :p

I'm 5'10, and after riding a gixxer around the R6 feels high up, but extreemly responsive. I recall you saying you were 5'7 or something, so I doubt you will feel comfortable on a stock height R6. Look for a good deal on a bike you wont be too uncomfortable on. Go to southwest superbikes, if you want to sit on them all one after the other and compare.

Yall should ride my piece around then. Pegs are way back. Seat is slanted like a mofo so you slide down it a lot. It's got some uncomfortable ergonomics. But I wouldn't trade it for the world when it's time to hit the track!
