I semi had my hopes set on an '06 Gixxer 750... But after spending some time on the phone today, it looks like I'll have an '05 Yamaha R6 Raven edition parked in the garage to take up the spot where I parked the Z. It's got a few bolt ons already, so that saves me a few bucks. Never been laid down, so that's a plus as well. 9,000 miles though, which seems kind of high. Regardless... It a good deal and I'm gonna take advantage of it. Hopefully I can post up some pics on sunday when everything gets finalized :D .

Best part about it is the black-on-black coloring will match my truck. lol...

Wish me luck!

PS - Where do I go / who do I contact regarding the MSR course? Haven't ridden anything in a long time and would rather be safe than sorry.

LMAO :D

Here's the site for the MSF. It's a great course. I took it in '94 before I ever had a bike. Great prep and accident avoidance, stuff like that. I really liked the 4X4 post they laid down and made you drive over it. Don't know if they still do that one. The course was a big help to me when I bought a bike the next year.

the new R6 is going to suck for the street anyway. It wont make power till around 12.5k RPM. Probably why Yamaha still sells the R6S

You will love the Yami. I had an 02 R1 and an 03 R6. Yami's rule as far as I am concerned. Try not to beat up on all the other 600's out there. Be safe.

So what kind of helmet and jackets did you buy? Don't forget not to skimp on the gloves either.

I bought a Shoei replica helmet... It was comfortable and I liked the paint scheme on it... Both jackets I got are Joe Rockets. One mesh, and one textile/leather. Just found a set of gloves today. They're Joe Rocket stuff also..

The deal was finalized on saturday night and I attempted my first ride on it yesterday. First ride didn't go too well as I couldn't touch the ground on the thing. <- I got me some short legs! I lowered it w/ the help of Chris Mckinney and just wased it / cleaned it up. It came from Houston and was pretty dirty when it got here. Bug splatters and dirty wheels.. yuck.. It looks good now though. The prior owner pulled off all the stickers and "blacked out" everything on the bike w/ some ghetto paint. So I'm gonna get new bolts and replaced the chipped painted ones.. And put the factory stickers back on it. The pegs and such look good in black, so I'll remove those and get them powdercoated over the winter.

again.. It's kinda plain jane w/out the factory stickers... But I'll be ordering the yamaha and fork logos in a refelctive red vinyl... It'll go well w/ the pin stripe around the wheel :) .. As well as be an asset to being seen @ night ;) .

Looks good man. What kind of pipe is that??? I mean the finish, looks like a Two Brothers Racing can maybe. I like the factory decals myself but it doesn't look bad either the way it is. I'd probably wait a while before throwing the decals on until you get comfortable with the bike just in case you drop it and mess up the fairings.

Be safe bro and we will have to go riding sometime.

Bless everyone that spelled his name properly (Sean) :D

Congrats on the bike. I was thinking about going that way, but think a 4x4 will help me out more.

Super nice bike, and 9000 miles is nothing at all. Mines getting close to 38k now and stills runs good. Be safe and always wear your gear. Had a friend go down this weekend on a duc 748. if he didn't have his gear on, he wouldn't have had a face or hands left. And he was riding safely crossing the street. what he thinks happened is he hit a small bump with cold tires and it slipped out from under him doing about 50 on plano parkway.

Looks nice man! The only thing I'm not feeling is the can, it doesn't go with anything on that mostly black bike! A polished can, or even a full factory exhaust would look a lot better in my opinion. Either way, all that matters is that you are on two wheels.:) Lemme know whenever ya wanna run the ol' 636....battle of da 6 hundo's!

Agreed, I'm just not digging the can either. Maybe it might look different in person I don't know. I think CF would look good on there to.

ditch that old 2bros shit and get their latest model. It would look tits on that black bike.

The newer Two Bros. looks cool, but Im not all for a company who doesnt even make a header.

IMO, look into Akrapovic in the CF. That system is simply badass. If you arent set on CF, check out Ti-Force or Arata. But whatever you do, please dont get a high-mount. MAYBE a racemount, but not high, thats just ricey

I've got a highmount on my 636 as well. I was going to ask though, has anyone with an 03-04 636 swapped to an 05-up undertail setup? If so, what all is involved? Is there a "how to" anywhere out there?

I would do that in a heart beat! I'm going to look around on the net when I get off work at 10.

I'm not too keen on the coloring of the muffler. In fact, my friends compare it to a wicker basket. LOL... I originally thought it would be the CF 2 Bros... Resembling a checkerboard finish. Regardless.. It's gonna get replaced, once I get comfortable enough w/ the bike... ;) :D And it will be a carbon fiber. I do like the way the akrapovic's sound... Although the 2 bros. currently on it sounds good too. Either way ~ it'll look good when I'm done  .

baby steps!
