I'm trying to get past my fear of pulling the front up. The R6 will pull up in first and also on the 1-2 WOT shift. Everytime I purposely get it up in 1st I freak out and get out of it really quick. :o Should I just put on all my gear and ride it out? hahaha

just in the past couple of weeks i have been bouncing it up in 1st and 2nd. just getting the wheel off the ground and putting it back down, not riding it out or anything. I am trying to get to where i am consistant at getting it up, once i get to that point i am gonna start learning to ride it out. I just play everyday on the way home from work, but on back roads where there is no traffic to be safe. I have learned that its hard to get it up on concrete roads. I just take it slow and not try to do too much at once, i know it will eventually come and i will get the hang of it. Also i have read some tips and crap online, but dont do squat for me, i am a visual learner.

Stand up in second and give a good bounce with your legs and roll into the gas at the same time. Once you get the hang of it then it will get easier. Oh its good to practice them whenever you have a flatspot because they are MUCH easier to direct like that when you are in the balance point. I started doing second gear cluth ups but that got old real fast and I didn't feel like beating up on my clutch so much. Stand ups are easy on the bike as long as you don't slam it down. I can do one second gear at 35mph.

I have rolled 1 wheelie over in my 10 years of rideing shifting from 3-4 over a hill.
That was a wild ride that I do not remember much from except walking away from it.

from just bouncing it up? i must be doing something wrong because 35mph in 1st gear isnt all that easy yet.....

IMO get a fiddy and learn to stunt one of those, so you know what to expect
A. your only going like 10-20mph most of the time when you wreck
B. you will wreck sooner or later, if you stay in stunting
C. What you learn on a fiddy does transfer to a bigger bike somewhat. Alot of stunts are harder on fiddys because your movement has to be so very slight. You still have to relearn the stunts, but as my friend says "if you can't stunt a fiddy, you really shouldn't try the big bikes"
The most important thing I learned was how to work the rear brake. Some ppl will never learn that i swear :D
I've only had my big bike 4 months, now i put my stock front sprocket back on to roll 2nd gear standups faster!

I've only looped one shifting from 2nd-3rd about 110 going down hill...just find a nice little road and start clutching them up in second...don't go full throttle, start easy and keep building til the wheelie is riding itself..thats the balance point

i definitely wouldnt do them in 1st gear.. try em in second gear, alot more controllable. i've never looped a wheelie but i have wrecked from landing a wheelie with cold tires, front tire just completely washed out when i set it down, didnt even have a chance to correct at all. just start small and get used to the feeling of it and work your way up. you can let your balls drop and just nail it but ya better be ready to fix yourself and your bike. lol.

Clutch em up in 2nd. 1st gear in an newer bike will loop out real easy. practice getting comfortable with bouncing it, bringing it up a foot or two, and you'll slowly start bringing them higher and higher.

You shouldn't need to clutch it on a literbike!!

You can bounce it, but that takes some coordination and practice. Theres alot to keep your mind on if its your first wheelie. You gotta stand up, throw your weight down, like you're about to jump up on a trampoline, let the shocks compress, and on the rebound WFO that bitch. You can practice sit down 1st gear bounces riding around town. Just give it a little throttle, let off completely, and when the suspension starts to rebound, crack it open a hair, and you should be able to bring it up as high as you want to. I've had alot of friends say the new R6s are scarier than shit to try and wheelie in first gear. Also, the balance point on those feels like its at 11:45. So riding out mile long wheelies wont be something you'll feel like doing anytime soon.

Once i hit 30 in 1st i can power mine up w/ ease, then ill just keep rollin on until 1st gear runs out. Im not at the balance point, that still proves elusive for me, but someday i will get it. The bouncing thing takes some practice thats for sure, sometimes i can do it and others i cant.

ooooo i went into one of those as i came off of one of my successful stand ups on 35. Went across 3 lanes and got down to the blazin 35mph. I cant speak for the rest of the 636s but b4 my dampner, it had insane head shake.

bad part is mine has a dampner.....reason it did that was i was coming on to 635...hit the little humps that the entrance ramps have..was in 2nd gear....went wot....hit the bump..front tire floated a little...as soon as it came down it went into a violent slapper....my leg has a cut on it from where my left foot came off and banged into the rear peg...my knees still hurt...thank god i didnt lay it over though....scared me

i had a similiar deal happen, i was changin lanes one handed and i no cluthc down shifted it as i did so....yea...again w/ no dampner, this lil incident is what made me go get one cuz i came w/ in inches of hitting the wall. That was enough for me to say ok, 500 bucks or my life...lemme weigh it out.
There is a wheelie school in California. They attach a spring loaded wheelie bar to the back of the bike that allows you to safely find the proper balance without going over.

this works very well, can get the wheel up everytime, i think this is a good way to get the feelin of getting it up and the way the bike will react

Only time my bike even really thinks about getting a tank slapper is when it is time to get new tires. No dampner here shes pretty stable at the track. I can't complain so far.

let some pressure out of your rear tire.. not excess amount just enough were you can push in your tire with your thumb, but not enough were you can feel your rim... learn the back break and start small... gradually work your way up.. camera thing is good, or just have someone with you watching you and tellin you how high you get.. what works good for me is putting my left foot on the passenger peg and cover the rear break with my right foot.. that puts more weight in the rear letting it come up easier.. start in second and get comfortable with it.. then if you want to do slow stuff (parkin lot) let more pressure out of the rear and go from there. 1st gears are really sketchy if you arent doing slow idle wheelies... learn with clutching.. to much clutching will eventually fuck shit up. if your trying to bounce the bike up being a beginner is harder, because it prolly seems the bike is gaining speed really fast... the only way to do that is if your comfortable hitting the balance point... just wear your gear and take your time... if your scared you wont be able to do it... dont get over your head trying... good luck
