Sorry if you weren't looking for "nots". I'll delete this post if you want me to. :o

this needs a poll

I'm not a god fearing person, not a person of religion. I have faith in myself so I don't need to look to some higher power...

I don't fear him, but I do believe in him.

I don't see a point in fearing something that is supposed to be your maker and protector.

Nope this is what I am talking about by "fearing" god, you have to follow the "Christian" way. I myself, believe in what happens will happen, no matter what you do. I live my life the way I want to, good or bad. I just wondered how many on here felt the same way or wanted to post there opinion of "why" you should. If it opens a "can of worms" so be it. We can all be adults about it.

This isn't the forum for that, but yes I am a Christian and proud of it. I'm not perfect but I try to be as good as I can, especially in my dealings with others.

I respect the creator of everything, but do not fear it. What is the point in fearing something you do not understand? Fear is what leads to pain, pain is what leads to suffering, and this all leads to the darkside. :D

So maybe fear is a strong word. Why do people feel they need to follow something to get something from life.

<--- Given this a lot of thought. I just don't like or have time for people that say they follow one road, when in fact they do the opposite. I am sure this can be discussed for sometime, just really wondering where everyone on this board stood.

To "fear God" means to be in awe of him.

To fear God is to fear his wraith. Awe and fear are two WAY different things. I am in awe of how big my penis is................my wife is in fear, because of how big my penis is.

Ask any Theologian and they will tell you that to fear Him is to be in Awe of Him and his Awesome Power. Normally people fear wrath and not wraith.

Any theolgian just has their theories. One theory is fear=awe...........but, another theory is that fear=wrath. Unless God himself says fear me or awe me, nobody is right.

Hmmmm, "God himself", that will never, ever happen. Damn, I guess I am just spinning wheels, I will try it this way;

I have been told by several preachers that the greek translation for the word fear in context with fearing God is translated into the word Awe. The only reason I know this is because I wanted to know why God said to fear him so I asked several preachers and received the same answer everytime.

It is not fearing god, but having reverence.

We just studied this. The real fear should be about the bad news, because it is really bad, but the good news makes it all better.

Why fear God? I thought God was supposed to be all forgiving and merciful? Even if you love and respect God, that does not mean you should fear him/her/it.

Preaching is when you are talking to people. They act like they are listening, but they are really wondering if they have enough beer for the football game get together later.

I do not fear god because a god is nothing.

I'm not trying to be a smartalec or a jerk or anything like that, this is just one of my PET PEEVES:Get your capitalization correct, it IS a big deal. In your High School English class, when they taught you about mythology, they told you the difference.

I believe in God, The Alpha and Omega, The beginning and the end.

I fear God, I love God, God is love. To fear God is to be in awe of Him. The english is different from all other languages and one word in greek can mean 3 or 4 things in english.

What a LARGE MAJORITY of people, believers and non-believers, don't know or understand is the Bible has to be looked at by comparing Greek and/or Hebrew translation with the English translation if you want to use God's word to its fullest potential.

The Bible is the work of The Holy Spirit, it is more technical our brain. The networking and interconnection of scripture is mind-boggling and overwhelming.

Theologians DO NOT have theories, they have beliefs. A belief is different from a theory.

or they are worrying about him preaching too long and missing the kick off, or they are worried that the Church of Christ people are going to beat them to lubys and make the line too long LOL......

I'm a believer but I fall short every day. Some days, real short.

Psa 33:8 (New International Version)
Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere him.

Psa 33:8 (King James Version)
Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
