keyless entry remote

just baught a 96 gt that didnt come with the keyless entry remote. just got one but dont know how to program it. called westway ford and they said that ther was a ire that had to be jumped. that is all the info that i could get. please help

If it's the same as the new ones you just have to stick the key in the ignition, turn the key to the on the off position 8 times within ten seconds and the remote should automatically program itself. When turning the key to the on(not start), and off position, do it quick, but not too quick. Just keep it under 10 seconds.
