This shit is just getting worn out. I called them on Thursday because I'm having a problem with my transmission. I'm getting a ghost neutral between 2nd and 3rd and I'm also having a problem with it dropping into 1st when im stopped or popping into neutral when I'm in 1st. They told me that it sounded like a bent shift fork. Makes sense. So I asked about warranty and they told me that it might be warrantied if there isnt any abnormal wear on the transmission, but they would still have to charge 0.5hrs of labor for looking at it, whether it was a warranty case or not. That was the first thing that really got to me. So they want me to pay them to take a look at the bike and see if it can be fixed under warranty (which I paid $500 for an extra couple of years)? And you know damn well that the Y.E.S. program would pay them for that labor, so they want to be paid twice. Yeah... right. I got in touch with a manager and expressed my concern about paying them for things that they were already getting compensated for. He told me that I would NOT have to pay the 0.5hrs of labor and to bring it in. I asked if they could get to it today (last Thursday). He said no and that they were about 4 days behind. He then told me to bring it in at around opening time on Tuesday and they would jump right on it, especially since it is warranty (hopefully) work. Went in Tuesday morning and talked to the guy at the desk. This guy was a real piece of work, not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. I told him that I had an appointment for this morning and that I needed to drop my bike off. He asked my name and then proceeded to tell me there was no appointment for me. I was confused and asked to speak to the manager. He told me that he would get him in a second, but to let him finish checking my bike in first. He asked the type of bike and I replied "2005 R1". He then proceeded to ask me (his exact words), "thats the 1000cc one, right?". I couldn't belive the guy who might be working on my bike just asked me that. So when he got finished typing up my information that was supposedly in the computer since last Thursday, he asked what was wrong. I told him what was happening and that the guy I talked to last week told me it was probably a bent shift fork. He then tells me that he said it sounded like a clutch, but he couldnt be sure. That didnt supprise me seeing as he didn't know the displacement of the Superstock Yamaha sportbike (yes, I know its 998cc, not 1000). I asked if there is any different procedure to get it taken care of with warranty, and he kind of avoided that subject for some reason. After I asked that, he just said that they would get to it as soon as possable. I asked again about the warranty and he told me that I would have to wait until they took it apart to see if it could be warrantied. Fair enough. I then asked if they would get on it today (Tuesday) and have an answer by that night. He said that they would give me a call with an answer that night or this morning (Wednesday) at the latest. Well, noon today comes around and my phone still hasnt rang, so I decide to give them a call to see if maybe the whole shop has a bad case of narcolepsy (sp?) or something. Called up there and the guy who answered told me that they were pulling it in the shop now and that it would be taken apart as soon as possable and they would call when they knew something. I told the guy that it was supposed to already be in pieces and I was supposed to have an answer. He just said they would call when they knew something. I got pissed. So I take a drive up there and guess what, MY BIKE IS SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT. Oh, but 3 hours prior they were pulling it in the shop? Why? Did they want to sit on it and make vroom-vroom noises and then put it back outside to sit until they decided to get off of their happy asses and fix the damn thing? I told the guy that if he didn'd have something for me tonight, I would be there at 9am tomorrow to pick the bike up. I have heard too many stories about shitbag places like Spurlock, but never a dealer. Im sure it happens, but I dont want to have to pick it up in pieces and take it somewhere else. He then told me that the guy who does the warranty work is out to lunch and he would start on it when he got back. I didn't want to make a scene so I took that statement and left.
So let me get this straight, on Thursday they say to bring it in on Tuesday so the bike doesnt have to sit around unnecesarily, and when I bring it in, it sits for 36 hours without even being so much as pulled in to the garage even though it would have been supposedly bumped to the front of the line since it was warranty work? Thats horseshit. Im through with North Texas Yamaha. From now on its Central or Stadium for me.
BTW, this dealership is the same place that told me my transmission on my frist bike (an '03 R6) was 1 down and 4 up. They told me it was a 5 speed! aahahahhaha!
