Well I made it back in one piece. Very fun day today. It started out really shaky. The first outing sucked so bad. I wasn't comfortable and I was trying to get used to running take offs. Well by the second or third session I started to get back in the groove and clicked off a few 1:38's. Already better than my best time from last time out. But I was very dissappointed because I was leaving a lot on the table in turn 5 coming down the hill and hitting that hard right. That section makes the hair on my back stand up sometimes. Well I got a little advice from my teacher. He said I was going so slowly in that section that he had to keep from hitting me. I knew I was it sucked. He gave me some pointers and adjusted my line to where I needed to run. OH HECK YEAH that made all the difference in the world. Now I come down the hill knee on the ground in 3rd then brake for a moment and then HARD right. That took at least 2 seconds off my lap times. I was feeling good and starting pushing harder. My buddy was averaging 1:35's and turned in a few 1:34's on his stock R1. I kept pace with him for about 10 laps and even passed him after he slipped a little going into a corner and i snuck by on the inside. That was my first real competitive pass I think. Felt pretty bad azz.
Anyways I found that the main thing to going fast is smoothness and confidence in your tires/bike. Oh I will post some pics whenever I get them. :D

It is very tempting to want to go out there and make some laps after you have watched! Just a warning! Dangerously addictive!

There was a bright red Ducati out there. It had side exhaust a lot like the RC51. I think it was a 750? Anyways I was pleased to be able to pass him up! And I didn't get passed by any v-twins! I did get passed by one of those freakin 125cc bikes at the begining of the day. lol

ian called me from out there and asked what color your bike was, as he browses the board sometimes and knows you have been out to oak hill. he said you were looking pretty good. said your lap times were good. good job, man...

Thanks. I didn't get timed at the end of the day but if I had to guess I was in the 1:35 - 1:36 range just from being able to keep up with my buddy on his R1 for about 10 laps. You need to get your bike and start hitting the tracks. It is just awesome what a bike will do for you on a track. I can't wait to go back now.

i have had the gsxr for about a month now, but i doubt it will ever see the track. i would rather get a track-only bike so i can track-mod it and it can stay that way. isn't track-modding your bike a pain in the ass ? then after the race day you have to un-mod it. seems like it would be a lot of hassle...

Only thing that is a hassle is tapping up the front and rear lights. One bolt the seat comes off, pull the two fuses, pull mirrors and side markers, two bolts and the liscense plate and turn signals comes off. It's not to bad but I would def. love to have a track only bike but right now this is all I have and will have to make it work. She does a very good job though. A lot faster then I could make her go. :D

The "hassle" is well worth the effort you put forth to get the bike ready. It might take you 2 hours or so the first time just going through a checklist finding everything. After that you can probably get to where you can prep the bike for the track in a good 30 mins.
