View Full Version : Paul Thompson era at OU now over....TC WHO???

4/9 for 49 yards, a fumble, and several wide open over throws

AD is 7 for 12

Gunn of TCU is 16/27 for about 170 and a TD

OUs O-line is...well, for their sake, they better hope they just need to gel.

The seconday looks the same as it did in the MNC.

When's the last time OU trailed for 6 straight quarters?

Gunn is now down, however.......may be cramps, may be another injury.

Rhett Bomar replaced PT, and promptly got sacked, and went 0-2.

Yep, both teams will come in with at least one loss. As bad as their QB's looked today, OU may have 2 losses.

Didn't really think that was gonna happen, but I'm glad it did. Where are all those Sooner turds who were preaching how much better these newb QBs are than Jason White

I'm not being overconfidant. Texas offense is alot faster than OSU's defense. They have so many weapons, OSU can't cover all of them.

The Sooners are sore losers
By John Rohde
The Oklahoman

NORMAN - The Sooners displayed little class after Saturday's 17-10 upset loss to TCU on Owen Field.
No more than a dozen Oklahoma players shook hands with the Horned Frogs. The Sooners' remaining players headed straight for the locker room.

Those spotted offering congratulations included running back Adrian Peterson, quarterback Paul Thompson, tight end Willie Roberts, cornerback D.J. Wolfe, safety Lewis Baker, wide receiver Lendy Holmes and, the head classman, fullback J.D. Runnels.

TCU wide receiver Cory Rodgers forgave the Sooners' snub and said, "Me and (OU receiver) Travis Wilson are real cool. Me and (OU linebacker) Clint Ingram are real cool. I'm not holding a grudge against them for being upset, being mad and running off the field. I understand that, so I don't think we looked at it as an insult, a slap in the face or anything like that."

OU fans weren't much better.

Roughly 90 percent of Sooner supporters refused to chat when approached by Oklahoman reporter Brandon Chatmon after the game.

OU coach Bob Stoops met Horned Frogs coach Gary Patterson at midfield.

"He just told me, 'Great job,' " Patterson said of Stoops. "I have a high respect for him and his staff. I consider them very good friends. I wish them luck. You hate playing in ball games against friends because somebody has to lose. I'm just glad today it wasn't me."

texas does the same thing, as does about 70% if not more, schools do. so what. hell, texas was still bitching about something a coach did after a game, almost 4yrs later. so don't try to make it seem like texas has more class than any other school out there when it comes to losing.

HookEm

Uhm, no. Texas does not leave the field for some time after the game. Nor do 70
% of the schools. That was not a classy move. Their own newspaper called them "sore losers," not some national outside looking in anti-Oklahoma biased source.

As to Houston Nutt: No class at all. You do not behave in that manner as a steward of your university. Eh, oh well. Makes Texas' ownership of Arkansas as of late all the much more sweeter. (see football and baseball teams recent head to head performance)

Im no fair weather fan. I love the Sooners win or lose.

I went straight from the game to Texoma, and I dont have internet at the Lakehouse, Or I would have come here to make excuses for my squad earlier.

What can I say....Its going to be a tough road back to the top.

As far as QB play....I stand my ground.....They'll be just fine. But will need to have Any Kind of help from the offensive line.

This will be a fun year to watch this YOUNG team grow.

It will be even better to watch a lowly 1-3 Oklahoma team beat Texas.

Rhett Bomar is the answer.

Those QBs are HORRID!
You REALLY think they are BETTER than White?
Come on now........
And there's nothing fun about watching a team with no OL and no heart. They're gonna end up seriously injuring one or both of their Heisman caliber QBs....ditto for AD.

Just curious what Vince Young looked like in his first College Football game? (As in passing the ball)

Rhett will be just fine, given the time.

Its funny how it takes OU to be DOWN and OUT for Texas to get the spotlight. I guess its been tough taking the back seat for all these years. Looks like I'll be viewing it that way as well.

Enjoy it while you've got it. It was a fun 5 years for me.

5 years in a span of of 99, where Texas has won 55 times, and OU has done so 39 times. If you think Texas being in the spotlight depends on what Dirt Burgular does, you're less lucid than I first suspected....then again, you think PT and RB are better QBs, this year, than Jason White, so.....who's to say?

btw......VY's first appearance is below:

#13 Texas 24, #16 Kansas State 20
Saturday, October 4, 2003
DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium (Austin, Texas)
Moments before, it had appeared Texas’ hopes in a nationally televised game, complete with an ESPN GameDay appearance in Austin, were fading fast. But Phillip Geiggar’s great strip and recovery of a Kansas State fumble had given the Horns a chance. Trailing 20-17 with 9:55 left in the fourth quarter, Texas was on its own 12 when redshirt freshman Vince Young came on the field as the Longhorn signal caller. From there, Young went to work. In 10 plays, the highlight of which was a 52-yard pass from Young to Tony Jeffrey, Texas consumed 4:36 on the clock. Young scored what proved to be the winning touchdown on a one-yard run. Kansas State would go on to win the Big 12 Championship and earn a BCS bid, but the moment gave Texas its first glimpse of the competitiveness and clutch play of Young.

Wow....

5 years of frustration has really soured the minds of the Longhorn faithful.

It shows that there is more of a "penis-envy" type of obsession with the Oklahoma program being down, than the celebration of their own team being handed the Big 12 Title on a silver Platter.

Texas never leaves the field right after a game. They always stay out there for the school time wheather they win or lose. If anyone leaves right after the game that is just classless

The only school with penis envy is Land Thief. Why else do they flash the upside down hook em, even when playing in the MNC game, or against...oh, i dunno...KSU?

Ya been to Norman lately? References to the Horns EVERYWHERE. You won't find that in Austin. Sure, there are the "OU Sucks" hats/shirts, but you only see those the first week of October.

It was YOU who heralded this program as being on the upswing, claiming both QBs were already better than Jason White, when the truth is......well, they aren't. At all. Maybe they develop a bit but....right now, they suck. Badly.

Take your usual position behind The University, and pray for a Coton Bowl birth.

They both do things well that Jason White couldnt. The jury is still out on them. Sorry..but Jason White would have spent ALOT of time on his ass, if he played with the O Line that was displayed on Saturday. Rhett Bomar will be a great Quarterback.

If anything, I have learned that the great players at Oklahoma in the past few years have made "average" players look very good around them. It will take a while, but they will be just fine.
