i thought i was going to get soaked, stop get plastic bag
put wallet , work id , work papers, phone all in bag, then put it in a backpack zipped it up and took off
so i was going like 90+ or so on 190 and BOOM my backpack made a loud noise and jumped, i put my hand back and it felt heavy enough my stuff was still in there(burritos in bottom)
so basically i kept going, ran out of gas , flipped to reserve , got to gas station with nothing , back pack completely unzipped, only burritos in bottom.
never did find any of it, brand new phone down the drain, the rest was pretty cheap. the only thing i can think of is it was probably zipped together at the top and a gust of wind came just right over my helmet and exploded the back pack pratically lost everything
hopefully someone will not do this too. Ironically I never did get rained on.

ive done it twice. once lost a brand new pair of abercrombie work out pants, second time lost a pair of $200 glasses. im real careful when riding with a backpack now. hope you find your stuff, atleast your wallet.

ah, gotcha. I think mine has a draw string around the top tho. Got it at the IJSBA world finals two years back.. it's got hella padding and its uber comfortable.

Thats what I was thinking. Always zip to the side. I have had full packs open up on me from walking when the two zippers were closed at the 12 o'clock position :(

yea, i figured out you cant zip it at the top. you have to have the zippers on the bottom/side

when im riding to my classes with my backpack i always make sure the zippers are at the bottom just incase of shit like that. if the zippers are already down theres no where for them to go :D
still need to be careful with one too because if you put enough weight in one and take a corner on a good lean and it shifts on you it can fuck you all up.

Haven't had it happen w/ a backpack... but earlier this week I was getting ready to go to work and squirted some hair gel into a ziplock baggy (didn't feel like taking the whole tube) so I could fix the hair before work. I put the ziplock into my front shirt pocket.
Got to work... went into the bathroom... gel baggie gone!
Probably landed on someone's windshield on the freeway. LOL! :D Hope they didn't use the wipers!

It's very tempting for me not to wear a jacket sometimes since I live 5 min. from work. And I can't use a tank bag because then I wouldn't have a place for my DVD player on the bike.
