I have been looking recently for an mid-sized cruiser. I want something that I can ride to work once in awhile and to use to run errands on the weekends and after work. Not looking to spend more than about 7K for a new one. Honda has the shadow 750 that looks pretty nice. The Rebel is only 250cc and it looks like a piece of junk. Any other suggestions?

Yamaha V-star 650. Comes in a variety of models. Base model is the Custom, no screen, running boards, etc. There is the Classic which usually comes with a screen, running boards, more chrome, etc and then the Silverado which has bags, back seat backrest, just pretty much everything. They are reasonably priced too. But the Honda 750 is definately worth looking into as well. My neighbor started on one and its a great bike. Actually, I think he might still have it. If you like, I could ask him and get you his contact info. If youre interested its a 2004 I believe and its Burnt Orange. Its stock except for a Mustang seat (kinda like Corbin). LMK whats up and ill ask him

Honda is the best cheap cruiser you can get as far as maintance.Honda has self adjusting valves and a good extended unlimited milage warranty.Just something to keep in mind. Pretty hard to break a honda also they have always been built stronger than the comp.

Does Suzuki still make the Marauder? It was pretty good entry bike. The ROAD stars are nice too, but not quite an entry bike I suppose.

If the gas prices go up any higher I may just do that. I would have to fill up about 5 times to get to work though.

LMAO! I seriously considering it! (Mount a larger tank, put a mini cam on it, and larger pipe!)

I saw a guy in plano with one of those honda scooters. I laughed so hard,he had an aria helmet dressesed in full race leathers with gloves and all. To make it worse he pulled up to these girls at a red light and started hitting on them. That poor girl couldn't even drive she had to pull over because she was laughing so hard.Scooter pimp ,lol

I had a 2003 Suzuki Volusia 800 that was a great bike for what you are talking about. The 2005 models are called Boulevard 50's and sell brand new for about $6K. It was the largest displacement of the small bikes and had a ton of torque.

A Honda Shadow is a nice bike. There are several variants of the Shadow to choose from. I would get something other than a starter bike. Get something you want to keep and not sell within a few months because you are ready to upgrade. If you want to do that buy used first. It is all how you decide to ride a bike. My first bike was a Harley Sportster. That was the 1st bike I ever rode. Within a month I wanted a bigger bike. Now I have a larger bike and thinking back I could have learned just as easy on it.

I just bought a 03' 100th anv. sportster in perfect condition. With all the warranties and protection i got out of ther under 8k. It's a fun little bike to cruise around on, it's not the fastest bike out there but it's got plenty of power to have to have a good time....
these pics arn't the best but they can give you a good idea

Went to Honda yesterday and sat on the Shadow Aero 750 for the first time. The bike is way bigger than I thought it was. It was very comfortable though and fit me well. The base price is $6,600 but after you add assembly and all the BS charges it is $7600 by the time you are finished. I went in thinking about the Shadow 750 but it is chain drive instead of shaft drive and I was quickly talked out of that model. The Aero looks a lot different than the one I was originally looking at, but I like it's looks as well. Here is a pic.
